Totally off the wall but might be interesting. What is your personal vision of football hell? My is I die and end up in hell and everyteam in hell including me runs doublewing. - BTW I have great respect for DW. Have been beaten by it but I'd hate to watch it every day, on tape every weekend etc. I put this on the Wing T site and added but at least you'd have Calande there to talk to.

Where side judges were actually nice or they had to hang out with "the Big Guy"(satan himself) for a month.

My vision of football hell is where it's not football at all you have to coach, it's JV girls basketball. Now that's hell on steroids right there.

My vision of hell is where football is actually futbol and that's the only sport they play, it's the only sport on TV and they make me coach it. Not just the HS school team, either. You have to coach winter league, summer league, weekend league, travel league, whatever. All year long. And your son plays on a team, too, so that when you do have time off you have to go and watch him play more futbol. Ooh, ooh, the Green Bay Packers are now in the Nation Futbol League so there are headers and bicycle kicks on The Frozen Tundra. Jeez, it scares me to death. I have to go to Confession now.

Having absolute studs at all my skill positions, and then having 90-lb weaklings as my o-line------------that'd be torment!

MY personal vision of football hell? I have been there and bearly survived. I have truely been through hell and back. Chuck - You could write an extra chapter to Dante's "Inferno" based on the last school you coached at! I think Dante describes 9 circles of hell. 1. Limbo--been there 2. Lust--had afew kids not come out b/c of girlfriend issues. 3. The Gluttons--I think I kicked some of those off the team. 4. Material Goods--Kids who won't play football b/c they have to buy an iPod and so they need a job. 5. River Styx--Uh yeah 6. The Heratics--place was full of them 7. Houses of the Violent- guarded by the Minotour--actually I did not have enough kids willing to be violent on the field. 8. The Fraudulent--had plenty of kids who said "yeah coach I will be there" then never showed. 9. Traitors: Let's see, I had an assistant coach start calling parents to get himself installed as the HC...during the season? Would that be a traitor? There the nine circles of Dante's Inferno which I coached in.

Back to the original post, I think that I am living in my football hell, or at least I think I am. HC doesn't weight train until March, the run game isn't repped in summer workouts (when it legally can be), have a DC that doesn't know coverage from his @$$, assistants that drain the program... hopefully, everything will work out wonderfully in the future and I can escape hell

I can't waint until you guys go existential. There is no hell. There is only life, then nothing. We are dust in the wind. Die and return to the earth. Returned to nothing and forgotten. More nihilistic than existential, but most people think existentialism is this crap, instead true greats like Kierkegaard or Tillich.

I think hell is unrealized potential. you have certain gifts and you chose to not use them. I think hell is the absence of love. therefore I think there are many people who are living hell on earth so to speak.
I know when hell is going to freeze over. that is when the minnesota vikings win a super bowl or the chicago cubs win a world series. that will be a bad day in hell. it is going to get really cold.
coaching teenage girls would be a close second to the above.
a close thrid is going wedding dress shopping with the wife to be. oh what a trip that is. should have signed up for a tour in IRQ. I am still wounded from the looks I got.
by the say, speaking of woman, why do that ask you to be truthful when they do not want the truth. IF they say, do I look fat in this dress and they really do look fat, why is telling the truth going to get you in hot water? If I had the answer, I would write a book. Titled, A mans guide to understanding woman in pictures.

You would sell millions. There is only one way to answer certain questions when married.
Wife - How do I Look? You - Great!
Wife - Do you like my haircut? You - Yes!
Wife - Do I look fat? You - No!
Wife - Which shoes should I wear? You - You can say anything here, as long as you do not say "Why does it matter, you are going to pick the other one anyway."
Wife - I love my parents, dont' you? You - Yes!
Wife - When are you coming home? You - I am just about to leave.

Even worse than dress shopping with the wife/GF is watching a 2 hour ice skating show with your nieces in it for 5 minutes. At least the women might be persuaded to try on something hot. I'd choose icepicks in my eyes before watching iceskating again.

wedding dress shopping is totallydifferent then dress shopping. OMG, wedding dresses have to be just perfect. I got to the point where I said "put it on the visa, we will just take a loan out at the bank to pay it off along with the 30 yr house loan.

My football hell is slow soft linemen, receivers that refuse to pay attention to spacing, and a QB that thinks he can see the whole field at once instead of reading in the order he is taught. Wait . . . that's my team this year.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Honestly the NFL right now is turning into my version of football hell-
1. Same friggin schemes every single week...
2. New rules implemented that protect the WRs and QBs; you can't even fart in their direction without some kind of flag.
3. Having to listen to the game on mute because the commentator's only knowledge of the game derives from playing Madden 07. (same goes for college football some days...)

Coach,
Ditto, Ditto, Ditto That's why I quit watching the NFL it's all the same. 10 Minutes of the top plays on ESPN is good enough for me. College, High School and Youth Ball are much more diverse and what I watch.

True that tog. I would say that having parent volunteer assistants was as close to anything like that I have seen.
I spent more time coaching them, than the players, but it is hard in a small school to find good people who aren't busy at 3;30 everyday.
Hell would be sideline passes with "assistant coach status" for every parent in the program. I am not sure a play would ever be called.

some places look like every friday night is "fathers night" on the sideline. Conflict of interest in many cases. (many cases, not ALL cases)
