Has anyone here ever tried to pursure a GA position with a College and if so were you successful. What are they looking for? experience (high school level)? knowledge?

You've got to have connections. If you played college ball and were coachable, usually your college coach can get you a GA position or recommend you to another coach. If you didn't play, I've heard of people being a team manager or volunteer assistant for a year or two and then becoming a GA. Other than that the only other way I know of to getting your foot in the door is to be Todd Dodge or Gus Malzahn and be a head coach ranked in the top 5 national high school rankings.

I applied for over 30 GA positions back in the day and the only 2 interviews I got were with schools that my college coach had connections with. Ended up getting one and feel very lucky to get my Masters paid for and have the opportunity to coach college ball for awhile, but I don't think I would go back.
