In going through our season, one of the biggest things that I believe impacted our team in a negative way was the loss of our team building. Football very much resembled a job...show up with your pads, practice, leave immediately after. No congregating, no locker room, no meetings, no group gatherings off the field. All of these have been crucial in building our program and the concept of team. It’s helped build relationships and blur lines of cliques.
so, how have you all still incorporated team building and bond forming activities this season?
how would you do it going forward if restrictions remain?
im working on ideas now because we can’t make it another year as just football, it’s not who we are. We absolutely need bonds and our kids absolutely need fun.

Can you use Zoom or Google Meet?
Can you use a larger space like a gym or auditorium and spread out?
Could you do some team building on the field?

I'm losing faith in Zoom meetings...kids just don't have the attention, and I think are all zoomed out from virtual school (we're 100% virtual in my area). But may be all we have. Try voting, use video, slides and talking = kids zoning out.
Our season was delayed till March, and who knows if that will even happen. So I will say....if you're playing, be thankful.
