Has anyone here ever been, or know someone who has been an NFL Quality Control coach/Coaching Assistant that would be willing to talk to me about possibly breaking into it/details about what it entails? I'm currently coaching at a small college, but ultimately I would like to get to the NFL

My buddy knows a decent bit of coaches on the Panthers staff from their Temple days. It seems as if you have to know someone in order to get your foot in the door to be honest.

I'm currently coaching at a small college, but ultimately I would like to get to the NFL I have a friend (retired NFL OL Coach) who did this in 2003. I still have some of his break downs on NFL Running Games from that period. Also have another friend who did OFFENSIVE Quality Control work in the SEC in 2019, & did film cutups off all Pass Coverages used in the SEC in 2018. These two examples show some of the type things (details) you would be doing! Contact me if you wish to see these.

My buddy knows a decent bit of coaches on the Panthers staff from their Temple days. It seems as if you have to know someone in order to get your foot in the door to be honest. I'd like to echo this; I've coached with a few guys who coached in the NFL/Power 5. Its ALL about connections. Additionally, I've met some coaches at that level who would were mediocre coaches (relative to the level of coach you get at the HS level)- but they had a job because they knew people. I've said it before, but there are plenty of guys coaching in the HS ranks who could do just as good of a job coaching as an NFL position coach as those there now. The problem is, how would they differentiate candidates. How would someone show they are better to be a position coach. I guess they have those college courses that you can take in coaching- but I think most people realize that passing a college course is nothing more than just paying money and putting forth the time, so what does that really mean. I will say this as a legitimate reason that knowing someone is beneficial, they know your stuff. There are a bunch of different systems, and various terms that all say the same thing but in different ways. At the very least, if you bring in someone who has been with you before, you can rest assured they already know your system. Problem is, they rarely bring in a unique perspective.

If you don't know anyone in the NFL, you don't get in.
