As of right now, we (SC) are still having football this fall. NC has pushed theirs back until February, here’s my question: is there anything prohibiting players from playing football in SC in the fall, then transferring to NC for their season in the spring?

North Carolina, and every other state, university pushing it back to spring will have the problem of at least 2 seasons in one year. What happened to the concussion protocols safety stuff? Everybody was ready to give up practices, limit contact, but when convenient, we will ignore it? HUH! ? i guarantee you, that come January, this will become a reason not to play...again, conveniently.

Similar situation where I am at. We are having our season (as of now) in Iowa while Illinois has pushed to the spring. The Illinois association released a statement saying that yes in theory players could play both seasons but residency/transfer rules were still in effect.

True, but not everyone can have two “senior” football seasons for example it shouldn’t even be possible under concussion rush to judgement. 3 classes would be exposed to an unnecessary amount of contact.

In NC we were told if a student wanted to leave and go to a private school in the fall and come back and play with us in February, it would be allowable.

Speaking of Michigan specifically here - our rule is one season in a sport per given school year, so if a kid transferred to Indiana and played in the fall, they would be ineligible if they moved back to Michigan then tried to play in the spring.
No issue with two seasons in the same calendar year here as they are different school years.

"4.3.5 A student shall participate in a particular sport for only one season during each academic year."
