We have gone away from putting the stickers on the helmets and making locker plates our of 8 1/2 x 14 legal size paper with the kids name and number, logo and motto for the year. We laminate them and hang them on their lockers. We hand out stickers for team goals met like pegleg described and the kids put the stickers on their name plates. At the end of the season we collect all the name plates and each position coach will write a short note for each guy in their position group and we double stick tape the note on the back of the name plate and give them to the kids at the banquet when we introduce each athlete.
The kids really like this and it makes a great personalized gift for each kid. The parents go nuts over this. Pictures etc.... When we go to graduation parties every kid that played for us has their name plate on display.
