Hey guys, I'm a big guy and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good shoes for standing during practice? Water proof or resistant would be a bonus.

I am not a big guy and not concerned about fashion. I wear hiking shoes (Oboz or Merrell) with Gortex liner. They give great support, they're comfy, and they are waterproof. These shoes are a bit pricey, but they are worth every penny. I wear these all the time, and they usually last at least a year.

Best shoes for OL coaches? Best does for WR coaches? Best shoes for DB coaches? Really? Just find some shoes that you like and wear them. No one knows your feet like you do. Everyone is different. Can we not even figure out our own shoe needs anymore? Wear flip flops, whatever. Just coach and stop all this nonsense.

My experience is if you want something with nubs go Boombah. They make a good tough shoe and it is cheap. If you need a better insole get some more expensive ones and throw those in.

I go with a simple pair of Under Armour turf shoes that I can get from Dick’s for about $50. I can usually get two seasons out of a pair of shoes as well.

Good point...I do have to throw on a pair of older shoes if it's wet out...those UA's I described aren't good for wet/rainy games.

I started wearing generic boots this past season. I can’t stand wet shoes, especially during two a days.

I second Boombah's . Comfortable and have a grip on the bottom so you can demonstrate and not fall on your @ss

But if you do make sure to also wear a backpack, ear buds and neon shorts. Visor optional, but not really.

Do you hate football or something? You act like people loving the sport and thinking through every detail is a bad thing. Im not neglecting my other duties or looking for fashion statement im looking to be able to get off practice and go home and play with my kid. I'm asking for suggestions because my feet hurt and I want shoes were Im not sliding around on our frequently wet field but my feet don't hurt either. You can't go to the store and try on turf shoes and you don't know if tennis shoes are going to grip enough until you tried them but then you can't return them covered in dirt. Chill out Darren!

An automatic win if you top off the ensemble with a $150 pair of sunglasses that you wear even if it is cloudy.

I'm a big guy. I swear by Sketchers with the memory foam. I have a pair for walking around, another pair that I keep in my PE office that I only wear at school, and a pair of Sketchers waterproof low-top hiking shoes I wear when we need to go outside and it is wet or muddy.

Getting your foot stepped on hurts bad enough without being barefoot when it happens. If you're coaching OL you have a better than average chance of getting stepped on.

I wear New Balance turf shoes. Have to get a new pair every 2-3 years and pretty much only wear them at practice. This last model (4040v5) is ok, the first couple were really good.

I’ve heard there’s a brand of water proof hiking shoes that are good. Don’t know the brand.
Also heard golf shoes are good but pretty pricey.
