Anyone see this happening to their programs?
We have a really good group of kids this season, almost everyone back from a team that played in the state championship game last year. Easily the most talented team I've been around in 22 years.
That being said, we have a D1 QB who doesn't want to miss his Sr yr and his brother that is a 3 star WR, both looking to jump state lines. We also have a RB and another WR who both have small college offers but needed this season to get a bit more exposier now looking to do the same.
Still waiting/hoping for a chance to play in our state but it's not looking good.

Any chance your state borders Missouri? Asking for a friend...

I know we had a kid or two visiting schools out of state last week.

There are kids moving within the state from schools that are high risk of shutting down to low risk of shutting down.
This will be wild.

I hear through the local Pinecone Telegraph (apologies to Jimmy Buffet) that the athlete that was the male school athlete of the year last year as a Jr, and who has accepted a wrestling scholarship to a DI in Washington (he got 4th in CA in his weight last year, has 3.5+ GPA), is telling folks that if there aren't sports in CA this fall that he will transfer out of state. Same player that quit the FB team on me and whose parents got me bulldozed, is now leaving for greener pastures. He has a younger brother that placed 6th in CA wrestling as a Frosh, not sure what this would do with him. I haven't confirmed this, not really that interested in it, but it is telling that families are contemplating this.
It's a crazy time these days.

Just to verify, the school these kids are at is in a part of the state that has had VERY few cases. Very rural to say the least.
There are a lot frustrated folks around here due to the fact that our area is being treated the same as the northern counties where the larger cities are.

If these "emergency" conditions go on much longer, people are going to be doing this for reasons more important than sports. Somewhere I read of someone who knows both families and singles for whom these conditions were what made the difference in convincing them to leave a metropolitan area and relocate to cheaper (but in some ways better) digs in another state. They've been reassigned to work at home, and hence decided there's no reason to be close to where the office was.

I live in California, one of the top Sr. Qbs out here moved to SEC country a few weeks back to play ball. Coincidentally, our Governor just put a kibosh on in person learning for most of the state as of current.

Matter of when rural areas get hit hard, not if. Rural NEOH is getting hit hard right now, especially Lake County. The hardest hit areas in Arizona are the rural counties like Santa Cruz and the Res counties up north. All this is just gonna make it worse as people leave to try to get to other states to play football.

You can run but you can't hide. Covid-19 hasn't changed. It is still highly contagious, no effective treatment, and even antibodies are going away after a few months meaning you can get it again. The other issue with the rural areas is very hospitals and available ICU units if you do get sick, even for other issues. We just had 73,000 new cases in one day and rising every day. This is going to here a lot longer than a lot of people think, IMHO.
