I had a doofus on the Oklahoma coached aid forum said that if some one "didnt even finish high school football" it would be a "red flag" to him if they were a coach. I told him wether or not they finished playing highschool football would ahve no direct effect on how good of a coach this person was. What are your thoughts??

I have to agree with you. What difference does it make if you finish playing high school fb or not. What matters is how much knowledge of the game does this person posess and how well does this person transfer that knowledge to his players and how well his players execute.
This logic applies to life not just football. There are many people who make a lot of money and manage very large businesses that never finished high school period.

well my opinion is just like everyone else above, plus I then wouldnt want to work for a conceited SOB like him anyway. If he did hire you he probably wouldnt listen to anything you had to say and probably would second guess everything you did since, "well, you never finished anything youstarted."

well the thing is, my OC didnt finish his highschool career, but has been a very sucessful coach (14-3 in his 3-4 years as an OC) so I think that his credentials speak for themself. As far as this doofus he was attacking my OC, I finally told him to go play in the road like a good little boy!!

How about Mr. Charlie Weis?
That assumption is rediculous. It's like saying no one can be an expert on.. I don't know... the Civil War, because they weren't there. Give me a break.

you are right, you do not have to be there or have played to be a expert. look at dr ruth. she is a sex therapist and who would want to sleep with her.

Just like anything else, you have to look at the reasons why they quit. Was it to help support the family, or was it because they would rather drink beer? The Co-OC where I worked never played a down of football, and he was (and still is) a heck of an offensive mind.

I know a lot of great chess players that have never been a rook or a bishop.

Thanks for all the positives. Also I think that my OC is the newest member of the board here. Now both my OC and DC are on here. Now well be a football power house with all of our knowledge combined!!!!

that Dr. Ruth comment was hilarious. By the way coach I've only been an OC for 2 seasons. I was varsity OL and DL before that.
