Has anyone ever worn turf shoes regularly for practice? I like to be able to run at certain points in practice or demo certain things. I hate slipping on the turf. I’ve never owned a pair but thought about purchasing a pair for this season for traction. Any advice is appreciated.

That's what I've worn for the past 5 or 6 years. Usually get a new pair of New Balance every couple years. The last pair have been ok, but the first couple were great. Plus they make good yard work shoes when you retire them from the practice field.

I’ve never tried turf shoes. I switched to cleats because, as you said, you can’t really move in runners on grass, and the slight lift in the heel of a standard shoe just killed my back with all the standing. In cleats they’re flatter so my back is so much happier.

I wear new balance turf shoes - love them and they come in wide widths too.

I wear boombah turfs or waterproof Merrels. You can get pretty fly with the Boombah styles and colors!

Thanks for the responses. Any particular retailer you guys go through? Obviously most probably sell online but shoes are something I’d like to try on before I purchase.

If you're going with New Balance, I'd try joesnewbalanceoutlet.com. They have the best prices on the shoes. And there's some styles that aren't available in some places. I've bought a number of my shoes from there & they're very good & extremely reputable.

I wear waterproof Merrells or waterproof Oboz. They're waterproof, have great support and and can take whatever you dish-out. I wear them ALL the time.

You should be pretty good in the trail running version of your favortite brand, so far as slipping for most normal conditions. If you get a lot of moisture, then go with the turf shoe.
At my age I'm more about comfort than style/utility.
If I want to demonstrate a drill or technique, I've got a senior or 2 that better know how to demonstrate it.

Coach is there something you like more specifically about Boombahs? I’d never heard of them before this post. I do enjoy comfort but I find standing on the turf is generally not the most comforting and if I need a little grip running around it’d be nice. I’ve always hated when coaches asked players to “on the hop” and they don’t-so I run a lot at practice (a lot being more compared to normal which is never). Plus after wearing dress shoes in the classroom all day anything else usually feels pretty great!
