If it weren't for the rona, the kids and coaches would have been in school at 12:30 in the afternoon. Again...debating the necessity of the shut-down is not what this is about. The point is that this coach was explicitly directed to NOT have contact with players. Not only did he disregard that direction, he did it on school property in April when OTAs are expressly prohibited by the state high school association. That is inexplicable. I can't fathom what this guy was thinking. I do agree with you that if there wasn't a shut-down, this would have been a minor story. I don't even think this would be a minor story. We both know probably tens of coaches who have held illegal practices and it's never even mentioned in the school let alone the news. I can tell you from where i sit, the light that has been shed on topics that are both within and outside the confines of this board has been surreal.

Look no further than here in Michigan to see how spoiled all of us in America are by freedom. This is one of the oddest sentences I've ever seen an American write.

Read some of the reports, look at some of the pictures from the "protest" held at state capitol yesterday.
You might change your mind.

I won't get into politics here but here is my take. If school is in session and COVID19 isn't even a thing. What this coach did was still against the rules. You can't meet in April with yor players and run plays on the field. He cheated and got caught. Depends on your state really. If you are referencing Wisc. specifically then that makes it even worse.

Having coaches in Wisconsin for a few years, I can affirmatively say that I've seen coaches in the Madison area rat each other out. I don't know what this guy was thinking.

That coach is an idiot. I do not understand why you would risk your job in this current environment.

This is a bad look for the coach and school. Who doesn't want to get together with their team? I cant believe he actually asked these kids to do this. Ballyz to try to get away with it knowing how parents are these days.

You're going to see more and more of this and not just in football. At some point the scare fest isn't going to keep people from living their lives. And it shouldn't. Excuse me.....I just want to make sure I'm reading this the right way. Are you saying a coach should violate a stay at home order, should disregard common sense. should put his players and their families at risk.....so they can "live their lives"?

Not saying he should, but that it's going to happen. At some point you're not going to be able to keep people unemployed and locked up inside. Especially if there is no threat in their community.
