"I still will scout a team in person if the schedule permits. There's just something about seeing a team live that I like..." We do the same thing. In fact, we bring along young guys (if their wives let them out) so that they might learn some football....

If you never had to hunt a coach down at the Blairsville, GA Sorghum Festival after figuring out you got bad film, you aint a real coach! Once had a guy do a no show. He wasn't a teacher and hadn't been at the school very long. It was my first year as a HC at the school I was at. Hour away from home and no cell #. Eventually called a coaching friend that had his number and eventually woke him up. Apparently they had come close to winning the night before and had a rip roaring post game party and his assistant was still passed out. He sent somebody else and I got the film like 2-3 hours after I was supposed to meet him. Went home, started watching film and had the sound on for some reason. Every time they were on defense someone in their "crowd" would start chanting "DEFENSE, (clap) DEFENSE". That went on for 3 quarters. They're camera guy was above their sideline in a crows nest and during the 4th quarter I saw who was chanting- their HC. He was also a bouncer outside coaching. We beat them 53-26 and that was the closest game we ever had with them. In the 3 years we played them the combined score was 150-26. They discontinued football after the 3rd year. In year 3 we were up 46-0 with 6 minutes left in the 1st quarter. It was always interesting playing that train wreck. EDIT- I almost forgot this treasure from that school- they hosted a Saturday game against a team that more than likely would be our 2nd biggest challenge for the conference championship so me and our DC went. As the host school was getting blasted their student section started chanting from the beds of their pickups "Win or lose, we still booze!!"
