Coaches:
Let me start by saying that I understand right now there are more important issues than football. I'm interested in learning if any coaches have a plan in case "quarantine/social distancing" continues into the summer months? Just wondering if anyone has thought about what he'll do if his team can not get together to lift/workout/install over the summer, or if workouts can resume late in the summer (closer to start of season). We, just as everyone else, are hoping that there is a season. We want to be as ready as we can when it starts. As I'm sure we're all doing, Planning for the Best-Preparing for the Worst......

We are preparing installs and other forms of online learning that we can implement since it's become fairly apparent we won't have spring practice and may not have the summer either. Our kids are pretty smart, they'll pick up a lot. It's the best we can do under ths circumstances.
I will add we are flying blind on a lot of it, making it up as we go along. I think one thing that Coach Huey could be very good for is a place to share some of what different coaches around the country are coming up with in terms of online instruction for their teams.
It might also be a good idea for Glazier to do some webinars on once coaches have come up with good ideas. HUDL should be takng the lead on this as well in giving coaches info on how their platform can be used here.

Not SURE if players will be allowed to assemble in SMALL GOUPS. Currently here - they advise groups of 10 or less. IF (& I stress IF) this is permitted, appointed Captains will be responsible for small groups. We'll have to wait & see about this (we will be in line with the medical authorities). We always prepare Summer Workouts for our players, & these can be sent online. I can trust our people to follow these, even with no Coach present. They also know they will be TESTED to see how they measure up in certain areas upon the return of the program. Like the "Bear" always said: "Have a plan for EVERYTHING".

I used the site football scoop had for no weights workouts and sent it on google classroom to our players in our football weights class. I was going to the Glazier clinic online about the band app. Just trying to be as creative as possible.

This is what we are doing specifically from a 'distance learning' stand point. Our district is 1 to 1 and has been for 7 years, so every kid has at least a machine. If they do not have wifi, then we have community partners that have areas of free wifi. Kids can come to the parking lot of our schools and use wifi and also download/upload work also. We use Schoology as the classroom platform. Google classrooms is another platform, but I'm not as familiar with it.
We had a new HC come in this winter, and we had already started by creating a class on Schoology specifically for football players (you can create your own). The HC had already been uploading his overall program philosophy, ideas, expectations, etc... He and the coordinators are moving now to finalize the playbooks, videos, etc... for the kids to have.
You can make it a simple platform to show materials (playbooks, video, etc..) but can also have discussion, assignments, tests, etc... You can also set up the folders so that the kids have to complete assignment #1 before assignment #2 is opened for them, and so forth.
As of right this moment, the HC has been posting some discussion just so the kids and coaches can stay connected. The little 'assignments' have been things that are reflections on those we are thankful for and encouraging them to stay connected.

Just threw the "Be 1/10th as good as Hershel Walker Push-up Challenge" out to our kids ... just another way to keep them engaged, competing, talking a little trash to each other ... and getting a taste of the bodyweight workout that made Hershel the beast he was.

I am assuming the DC position at a high school that is something of a turnaround situation. We will be switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 scheme. Obviously, there will be a lot of teaching involved. I made six videos (15-20 minutes each) covering some of the key install basics. We posted them on Hudl for the kids. The feedback from the kids has been very positive. They're anxious to get going, and want something to do while we are social distancing. We've also given them a body weight workout, and they have enthusiastically gotten into it. When they give you lemons, make lemonade, right? Take care and stay safe.

As of now our schools have not been shut down for the year by the state as many other states have been. So we are holding out hope for summer workouts as usual but also wondering if they shut schools down officially and also wack summer school what does that do? Would the first official day of fall practice be the first day with the team? Anyone getting clarification from their state associations in places that are done for the year? Or everyone still in a holding pattern?
