With the popularity of the spread offense, seems like eveyone in the country is going to it, I was just wondering what you guys think the next popular offense will be in the future and also which will make a come back if any.

Watch a good single wing team play and you will wonder why everyone doesn't do it.

i think you are going to see a return to power football. no I am not talking the double wing or power I.
the 3-3-5 defense is weak against the power run game. lineup in two te and 1back you have ss type kids having to play on the l.o.s. against tes.
which then in return will bring back the standard 34 and 43 defenses which will then bring back the spread.
football is a game of cycles. who knows, maybe even the triple option might make a comeback?

I think right now we are seeing the rebirth of the single wing with the gun spread offense, and using the QB as a runner from it. Granted it is not the single-wing offense but it is rather close.
I think the triple option will come back in vogue for teams that do not have the horses up front. But it will be more of the flexbone triple because of the success Navy is having with it.
I think the wing-t and power football have never gone out of style. Look around the midwest and I would say 75% of the teams run some form of wing-t or power football. Maybe that percentage is a little high but I bet I am not that far off.

starting to see a lot of teams run 2 TE No Back sets with the QB in the gun. Putting the best athlete with the ball in his hands every snap, simple run game and still have the downfield passing game. Can still 7 man protect if needed.

I'm thinking of cooking up something called the "flex gate" . . .bascially running an offense out of something akin to a swinging gate extra point formation. Others may have done something like this already, not sure though. I remember Steve Spurier did some whacky stuff spreading things way out at Florida, but not quite like a swinging gate.

I've got a game or two of old singlewing footage. Every time I watch it, I can't help but wonder why it hasn't made a big comeback. As much as I like the 'new' spread shotgun option stuff, the singlewing is my favorite.

No huddle, zone read, jet/fly, speed option, with a pocket and rollout pass game
