I’ve looked for a thread on this but couldn’t find one recently.
What are some side hustles for coaches? How do you make some cash on the side of your teaching and coaching duties?

I've seen where some folks are pretending to be college coaches on twitter and then having people cashapp them money. I would advise against it, however. Seems pretty dumb (and illegal).

Currently:
- "Manager" of a golf course bar/restaurant - mostly I stand around and make sure the young girls waiting on the members aren't getting sexually harassed, stealing, or drinking. Occasionally I help cater a wedding or something.
- Assistant wrestling coach...this is "volunteer" but I told the AD I won't be volunteering in the future and all of a sudden some money appeared. I've also been asked to help with baseball and track, but right now I'm keeping spring open so I'm not coaching year round (can also do the golf course job in the spring that way).
In the past I've just waited tables or tended bar, which is better money than the golf course job, but also significantly more work and late hours...and you spend a solid 10-20% of your paycheck drinking beers with your coworkers.
I've looked into being an AP test grader some, which isn't a ton of money but it's basically like doing PD and getting paid for it.
I've taught summer school in some capacity a couple times as well.
A buddy I used to coach with teaches drivers training and makes pretty good money doing it. There is some upfront cost but it pays itself off the first year and then you're profiting every year after.
My plan if I quit wrestling is to get in as announcer for the basketball games.

I know everyone complains about the low pay in coaching but if you can find an assistant or lower level coaching job in another sport it helps.
If it is a position that doesn’t require a ridiculous amount of extra time outside of practices and contests it can actually pay you pretty well per hour.

Officiate a winter and-or spring sport. Can make a surprising amount of cash (or just beer money) and make your own schedule.
If your school pays for it, be a contest worker (scorebook-board, PA, track timer, etc.)
Drivers' Ed or teaching Summer School can be good but could interfere with football activities.

Seriously...is there a local tech school (or similar) that does driver's ed. Around here you can make $20 an hour up to 4 hours an afternoon and 8 on saturdays.
In GA, all 16 year olds must complete a driver's ed course

I officiate HS and Collegiate track meets in the spring. Easy work, easy money. Set your own schedule. I even got my wife to join so we work events together so it's not any extra time away from her.

You do need to get a certification.

Work on outboard motors and make fishing lures. Really just do it to fund my fishing. Used to drive a bus and was an Asst boys basketball coach. Those kept me tied down too much.

I don't know if brewpubs are big in your area. They are here and it seems like a lot of them have bartenders who are teachers during the day. The things that make breweries/brewpubs attractive is that they tend to close earlier than most bars and the crowds are better behaved.

sell ads for a country music festival...5-7 calls a week and 20% commission and if I don't get them for that I throw out the possibility of sponsoring our football team either through a media guide ad or golf sponsor.

Real estate is not bad, work on your own time, somewhat of an investment upfront, but bigger returns than most other second job options. Feel free to contact me if you are in SC and want to know more.

Fireworks Lawn maintenance Y/ country club life guard, camp counselor Handy man,,, just about summer sensational gig Construction Fishing guide, marina worker, again think summer activities
Really if think about it, the options are endless. The thing is, what commitment/time restraint are you willing to do?
Think of all the no/low school jobs that are constantly looking for help in this economy.
I tell my kids all the time, if you show up, show up on time, do an average job, and are willing to fill in as needed; you can pretty much name your schedule and ask for a raise as you advance/prove yourself.... especially in the fast food industry.
As a certified teacher (degreed, background checked, can negotiate red tape) you get to jump to the front of just about any line. You only have to convince them that you won't jump ship and will be there for them.

I do PA for both our Boys and Girls basketball games and run strength program for the wrestling team. Since our school is typically a site for State tournament games I announce those as well. The state tournament games are all day but 300 bucks is pretty good to sit on your butt and announce basketball.

It was easy as crap, great money and some nice mom scenery running about. It's also why I consider myself a professional announcer. 😀 Was a moderator for a JV conference tournament once. That paid $120 for 4 hours work. I'd love to do that again.

US Census Bureau is hiring temporary workers. Pay rates of $17-$30/hour depending on location.
I worked the 2000 census. Easy peasy. Worked as little or as much as I wanted to
