Going through my second regime change in my coaching career, I survived the first one and I have a good relationship with admin so I should survive this one as well... however the sudden change makes me realize how quick things in life can change.
I just wanted to give a quick thank you to this board for helping accelerate my knowledge of the game over these past 5 years!
6 years ago I graduated highschool and knew college football was not in the cards, but I did the next big thing and started coaching highschool football. We were a DTDW school and all though I had knowledge as a fan, all I knew how to play and coach in was our beloved 24 power play, Hell we didn't even carry receivers on our depth chart!
Fast forward one year and my HC that mentored me since he took over in my sophomore year of highschool steps down for personal reasons and incomes a college coach who runs the HUNH spread and doesn't know us from a hole in the wall.
So miraculously I came across this board and started asking the most ridiculous questions trying to soak up as much as I could... upon our coaching interviews I made the case to be promoted to JV OC at the age of 19 and got it! the rest was history! I have had the experience of a lifetime helping these kids develop as both players and men. This past season our varsity made it to the championship and I had the privilege of coaching every single one of them.
Ironically I am currently in my second semester of law school and have one more year to go, so in reality my time commitment to coaching was unknown past the 2020 season depending what career prospects I have, but this was just a freakin curve ball
Anyways I have no idea what the future holds, I just wanted to say thanks to all of those who have helped me over the past 5 years as I was literally able to go from the bottom of the totem pole in our program to literally THE resident scheme guy (outside of my now former HC), and I attribute it all to the coaching community here and the willingness to share!
