I have volunteered to take on the task of laundry. I do not like the system we have. Throw jerseys and pants in separate bags and wash. Something is always going missing and it drives the HC crazy. I know there has to be a better way. Does anyone have the straps to string jerseys together? SUch as 1-10 washing together? Does this work? My idea was to strap 1-10 together, 11-20 etc... That was the jerseys are together and it will make distributing easier. Bottom line is how do you do it because our way is not the most efficient. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help Haven't thought about strapping the numbers together. What we do is we have a rolling rack (like department stores use--you can often find them for cheap or even get a store to donate one or two). Once we wash and dry a load, they are hung on the rack in numerical order (using clothes hangers--NOT the wire ones). Once they are all done, we roll the rack from the laundry room to the storage room. If any are missing, we know immediately after hanging them all up. The pants are washed, dryed and sorted by size. The next part depends on how we are distributing them. Presently, we wear the jerseys on Friday, so they are kept on the rack, the pants are put the hangers with the jersey they go with, and the players come by after practice and pick them up. When we put out jerseys and pants on their lockers on Friday in the past, we just rolled the rack down to the locker room and it made distribution easy (especially if you have lockers arranged by number).

We bought new pants a few years back and they don't require belts so now we just loop 7-8 jerseys through with a belt that we don't use for anything else now and wash them that way. I do like the idea of looping them by numbers.

We give each player a laundry loop. They loop their pants, jersey, and girdle together and place it in the laundry cart after practice. We wash them and place them in their boxes before the next practice. Those that don't use the laundry loop have to run and their stuff gets thrown back into the cart for them to sort out on their own. The laundry loops are pretty cheap, hold up well, and rarely come loose.

I like the ticket out.
After games we have two trash cans set up, one for pants one for jerseys. In order to get out of the locker room you have to use your ticket(pants and jersey) to get out......once you come out you can't go back in until everyone is out.
The day before games when they are picking up their jersey to wear on game day similar system with trashcan.....
you come up say your number coach pulls it out watches you drop practice gear into can and gives you your jersey.

Sure, we'll have some missing practice stuff. That kids are supposed to take care of but game issue? Never really been an issue cuz the kids know if they don't have a jersey, they're not going to be playing.
That being said, we hang dry all of our jerseys and hang them up in numerical fashion. So you'll be able to tell when one is missing. Same thing with the pants. They get sorted in numerical fashion as this is the way the locker room is laid out.

As an equipment manager with over 20 years of experience, my advice is to not put all of the jerseys together on a single loop. They need to be loose in the washer so that they can agitate. If they're bunched together, they may not get completely clean. For the personals, use a loop. This is used at every level of ball now. Using the loop, it keeps the clothes together and it's easily returnable. The thing that need to be stressed about the loop is to avoid overloading it. Too many clothes on it, and they won't be able to move in the wash and agitate. Plus, you HAVE to wash jerseys and pants separate because of the weight of the materials. Hope that helps.
