Have any of you ever been notified after you have interviewed twice that they filled the position via email?
This happened to me yesterday by a school that brought me in twice for interviews, brought my family up for a visit and made a number of phone calls to me and my references, and I get an email from the secretary in the HR office that the job has been filled.
Professional?

Very unprofessional in my opinion. They owe you a phone call.

I think email is a great tool, but not for communicating a job offer or rejection. Our society is losing professional courtesy. The principal or AD should have called you.

I had a rejection in a mass e-mail to about 100 people...most of whom didn't get an interview.

I think if you are not even getting an interview it might be different. I would still be miffed but if there were 100 applicants I guess I can understand. If I were an administrator I would still want to send a letter through the mail though. But in JDs case or anyone else who gets brought in for an interview, let alone two interviews it is a complete bush-league move. Unprofessional at best.

JD sorry to hear you didn't get the job. I think the above mentioned is right.. that was pretty crappy of that school to email you with a rejection. I've had it happen to me when i went 3 interviews for a job...they emailed me. Kind of pisses ya off, but looking back, you definitely don't want to be at a place where the administrators can't look you in the face.

Even though you did finally receive a call from the AD, that was still unprofessional of them.
You're better off w/o that job. Keep on plugging.

AT LEAST THE PLACES YOU INTERVIEW HAVE THE DECENCY TO GIVE YOU A LETTER OR EMAIL. THE PLACES I INTERVIEW SOME 2-3 TIMES DON'T EVEN CALL TO TELL MR I DIDN'T GET THE JOB. I HAVE TO HUNT THEM DOWN.

I have a list of schools that rejected me for HC positions. Last year I went 3-0 against them outscoring them 110-12. Always a little extra motivation vs. them!
