Interesting. What is the range? Do you have it on a stand? No stand is needed - it has wheels and retractable handle for rolling it around. The bluetooth range is only about 50 feet, so I place my iphone directly on it. We remotely control the volume, pause/play, etc. from an apple watch, but of course you don't have to use a watch -- you could manually control it. It's not the loudest speaker we've ever used (100 watts), but it's good enough to hear all over our field. It is the most rugged speaker we've used.

Does playing music at practice help you play better-win? In HS football for example music - from bands or PA - is not supposed to be played after RFP (Ready for Play) signal. Seems like it be just another (big) thing to set up for practice. But apparently it works some programs? I think this falls into the "nice to have" category. If as a coach this is one of the concerns / focal points for you my guess is everything else better be top notch. So yes this becomes another "thing" to add to the to do list. However if you make it easy then it is not another thing it something that happens. We have a field that has our score clock and a sound system (it is not great but it does the job) and we play music often at practice. I don't think playing music at practice has won anyone any games. Why do we do it: -kids like it -makes practice less mundane -adds energy to the practice especially if kids are tired or down from a long day

I loved music at practice. I created a playlist with a mix of a lot of thing from Ric Flair quotes to WWE wrestling intros, no new rap so I didn't have to deal with kids having dancing sessions. The kids and coaches loved it. It all ended with the weathered incompetent track coach ran directly into the speaker tower knocking it down and busted our unit. He blamed it on the wind.

We have had it for the last few years. We got lucky and bought a setup from a custodian that was a DJ on the side and sold us an old system of his. Our kids definitely notice if it isn't playing something and can help keep the intensity during long practices. We color code our practice sheet in a way that tells our managers when to turn it off and when to turn it back up.

I absolutely love having music.
Also, I hate having to yell constantly during drills.

I'd like to try it, but judging by what our kids play in the weight room I just keep getting farther and farther away from understanding their music. There is nothing energetic or hype about a lot of the rap/hip-hop they play. I couldn't imagine trying to practice to it and there's no way I could lift to it, but they do. When they're not dancing.

First time I've ever done it was this past season. I would rec you crank it during your pre-practice routine, turn that crap down during indy, and get it going at 60% during team. I still want to coach / correct during team so I want to be heard. Thursday maybe crank that joker back up.
Also find an eclectic mix. No one will play what I like on there, the turds.

I cringe at the music the kids listen to in the locker room and bus. Lots of swear words. I’m not the head coach so it’s not my call and again I’m older than dirt - but n words and ho and mofo don’t seem appropriate...

I would think if you're playing music at a school function - weight room, practice, etc. - the language should be school-appropriate unless they're the only ones that can hear it (head phones or ear buds on bus for ex.).

I personally think it's a major portion of the attempt to make people stupider, but I digress.

Question is there any app or downloads that dont have swear words in them? would love to include music at practice but even radio edits and pandora adult settings are unreliable. i would rather not have to download and edit every song myself.

We've used Pandora with explicit music turned off for several years and only had one time it let a bad song through. We've tried using Spotify but it doesnt play the radio versions, it removes all songs with explicit lyrics. With top hip hop stations it'll end up only playing about 3 songs over and over.

I was a HC at a Black HS, went to a HBCU, one thing YOU DO NOT DO is tell the band when they cannot play.....
Our band never stops playing.....LOL
