Coaches, I am at a small school 40-50 players with all the school being on free or reduced lunch. What are some inexpensive ways you have supplemented your kids as far as nutrition to help them gain and keep the muscle to compete with other teams?

PB and Pretzels, chocolate milk (ask the lunch ladies if they can donate the ones they have to throw out - like the ones that expire tomorrow and the end of the day has come around and they wouldn't be able to sell them tomorrow)

Not sure which state you are in, but in Texas if you are at a title 1 school you're students are eligible for an after noon snack that is included with their free/ reduced lunch. go talk to your cafeteria manager. also, if you have a booster club you can have them pay for whole milk chocolate milk which costs about .15 cents per bottle, you have to buy them by the case of 50, we go through our cafeteria manager. we also order certain snack from them that are high on carbs and protein.

PB&J, Chocolate milk, but I think the best one we have done is Austin Crackers. Cheap and no clean up

We emailed all parents and asked if any could donate PB&J and bread. Worked awesome this season.

Shop local..we have a Cloverdale foods second hand store and get lots of goodies from them...pork the other white meat.
We also do protein balls, PB & J and Bessy's Best Chocolate milk when we can get it.
