I have two ladies (one on the JV and the other on Varsity level) that are willing to be team parents. I have some ideas on responsibilities that I would like them to do, but I wanted thoughts on how you would (or have) utilized such individuals. Mainly organizationaOther ideas are appreciated.
I've had volunteers in the past and it has worked. My current volunteers are good people and simply want to help. Spare me the 'I wouldn't let a parent near my program' comments. Nevertheless, other ideas are appreciated.

I was at a school once that had a mom volunteer and she became the DFO, which was a mix of team mom, HC secretary, and booster club assistant.
Was a big time secretary type for the hc: kept him up to with meetings, organized stat sheets, cleaned stuff, did ‘go fer’ pickups. Also worked closely with boosters inregards to team meals and fundraisers. She didnt know squat about football, but she helped the hc a ton (smart football guy but ery scatter brained).

Our moms (and dads) do a great job with the preseason picnic and post season banquet. They organize team meals and food on the road. They also handle the apparel orders. We coaches don't have to lift a finger. Those are things that are great for parents.

Pre/After game snacks/meals, post season banquet. Last year we had Thursday meals and tried to have a guest speaker.

This is how we've made use of parent volunteers in the past. They'e been very helpful when it comes to our preseason BBQ, team dinners during the season, and the post season banquet. However, we've had them volunteer through the booster club which helps keep things more organized.
