I know a lot of us offensive coaches count on a defender doing things with "proper" technique, but how many times does this burn you when HS kids dont?

technique (IMO) for offense can mean a lot of things. Knowing HOW to line up / HOW to execute assignment / HOW to deal with contingencies / HOW to make the play (catch / throw / etc).....more often than not, most HS kids don't stand up to the pressure real well.
Defenses rely on offenses to play "unperfect".

that's what I mean
the one time you want to run counter wide because the de is doing such a good job of squeezing it down, he then wants to run up the field and mess it up
