3. Running summer weight program along along with the rest of the FB staff (you certainly need an organized and consistent program. But very difficult to get everyone there and as long as it is ran smoothly it is not an absolute non-negotiable for me. But i've also never coached in Texas.
5. Meeting with the staff Sat or Sun to game/practice plan for the week in season (gotta be on the same page. How we meet is changing. But since we don't get to use Monday during the day for that then we have to on the wknd)
5. Drawing play cards of opponents Off, Def, Spec Teams for each opponent (I can't believe anyone wouldn't do this)
4. Meeting with players Sat for film, treatment, etc (I think it is important but I could see it as something people could cut and be ok with)

Running summer weight program along along with the rest of the FB staff Meeting with the staff Sat or Sun to game/practice plan for the week in season Drawing play cards of opponents Off, Def, Spec Teams for each opponent Meeting with players Sat for film, treatment, etc The summer weight program is critical but we don't expect every coach to be at every session. People go on vacations and some guys have jobs or other family obligations. Coaches should be there when they can and communicate about when they can't. I think that it's critical to meet in-season but we don't believe in wasting time by doing a lot of things at a staff that can be done individually. That brings us to: Scout cards. They're important but we've never drawn them up as a staff. Each coordinator is responsible for scripting and drawing cards and having them ready when needed. The only time that we bring in kids on Saturday is after a Friday game when we play on Thursday next week (In our league we'll usually have at least two Thursday games a year).

1. 5 - gotta workout to compete...
2. 3 - meeting doesnt have to be in person, but planning has to occur
3. 1 - it helps the scout coach but not vital
4. 0 - give kids time to be kids

The second one I'm going 5...sometimes the meetings get tedious but even with the technology options available, I feel way more gets done face-to-face working together. 3 for the second option. 2 for the second. And if it wasn't for checking injuries, I would mark it a 1. I haven't worked on a staff in close to ten years now that has brought the kids in on Saturday.

I think you may want to clarify these items a bit. For example, many seem to be listing the summer weights as a 5, presumably because they are evaluating the importance of having a program. Others however are listing it as non important, because they are evaluating the importance of having the entire staff present at all sessions

5- if you mean having a summer program in general, 2 if you mean 'needing to have all coaches present'
4- if you mean having a weekly gameplan, 2 once again if you mean you need the whole staff there; as long as decision makers are present then other assistants just need to fall in place during the week.

I've never worked anywhere (4 schools have done it) that Saturday player meetings weren't a complete waste of time for everyone involved.
