Do any of you have some sure fire fund raisers for a brand new
program being birthed from the ground up?

WE do Varsity Gold cards in the fall and cookie dough in the Spring. This last year we raised oiver 13K. That's a lot for a medium sized school in a rural Idaho community.

We have had success with coin-drops at busy intersections. We made $2,400 in just about 4 hours on a Saturday morning this year. The guys wear their jerseys, we gut the padding from some rejected helmets to collect the money, make some signs and feed the guys pizza afterward. Besides the pizza, its 100% profit with no overhead! Good luck!

Click on the "Search" above, search for "Fund" in titles...go about 30 days...you'll find a LOT of posts on fund raisers.

We recently did the candy bar route. I think we made around 3 grand profit. I know I sold $360 worth. Have also done the schedule/discount cards in the past. Made a good sum off those (around 6 grand I think).
Another thing we did that I liked and think I'll institute at my new school was we sold Gatorade and water from the coaches office. $1.50 a gatorade and $1 a water. Just go to Sam's and Wal Mart and you can get 24 waters for 4 bucks that makes you 20 bucks of profit and gatorade is like 7-8 bucks a case. Made a few hundred off that that we used for odds and ends.
I know our athletic department just recently held a reverse raffle to try to raise money for our weight room and made nearly $7500.
One of the things I heard a guy say once, and I know fully believe it, is that if you want the money, there is a way to get it. You just have to be willing to work for it a little.

We have tried a bunch and the Liftathon is the most money for the least work for us. I agree. Our liftathons were great fundraisers. We would put an incentive for the kids. If they raised $150 then we got them a spirit pack (sweatshirt, shorts, t-shirt), and for every $100 on top of that they got another one. Even with all that we profitted big and for a school of 140 kids we netted over 5K every year.

Choose a doable weight...and make the lift-a-thon about the # of reps the kid can do. Reduce the likelyhood of injury.

Topless carwash..
We did this back in college for my frat (Kappa Sig).. we had some girls from Sigma Kappa help us out. Mainly girlfriends and such.
We set up shop behind an out of business gas station in town. We had signs out front that said free topless carwash.
They pulled around back.. and the girls were in bikinis.. they washed the whole care except for the top.. it cost $5 to have the top washed... lol.. We had a handful of people get mad and drive off.. but we made almost $2000 in about 6 hours.

I wasn't real involved with the raffle as I'm still at my school from last year when this was going down, but I'll try to explain it. Essentially they sold 100 tickets for $75 each. They then started pulling tickets out of a big tumbler thing. Every 10th ticket got $50 back. They did this for 95 of the tickets and then the final 5 tickets were up for a prize of $3000. The final five then decided if they wanted to split the prize or put those five tickets back in and draw again. They decided to draw again three times until only two were left. They decided to split the prize. There were also auctions of various donated items throughout the evening. One bank in town donated some Cardinals tickets, somebody donated some Cubs tickets, there were some school shirts and other spirit wear, free massages, free oil changes, free car washes, etc. When it was said and done they ended up with around 7 grand total. A lot of the $50 winners donated it back to the school. Except my mother in law though , she kept it. Was a lot of fun and a great way to make some money for our weight room. We're also considering a lift a thon next spring as well. If you would like more info just PM me and I'll try to get more of the info from our AD.

I also forgot there was a steak dinner that everyone who bought a ticket got two tickets to. So they did the meal and then raffled off the stuff. The only cost on the meal was the steak. They got the potatoes donated and the deserts and such were made by the moms of our kids.

Beg!! We had a track car wash one year. The actual car wash made like $500. The kids hanging out by the street and at the front door of Walmart holding the signs made around $700. Always do it near a redlight, especially a long one!!
