How much do you trust your athletes?

If I had Troy...I'd turn him loose too. If you have players who are athletic enough to do it then go for. I was able to do that at the Texas 3A level as a DC....kids got comfortable in the system and knew were to be at the snap of the ball.....went to the Semis.....of course I have not had a group like that since....

Reminds me of when Bill Walsh was doing color commentary. "If I were coaching in this situation, I would have Joe Montana throw the ball to Jerry Rice...." THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS. (referring to Pitt's DC having such nice toys to play with, and Bill walsh being in the same boat)
I think a lot of it depends on the maturity of the kids. One negative is that I can see the kids getting preoccupied with all the disguise, and then not carry out their assignment. I know I know..."we never let disguise be a liability" Yeah, I say that too. I also tell the kids not to drink, follow training rules, not to miss training, not to miss tackles, not to blow coverages etc. They don't listen to that stuff either..lol

It takes a special kind of h.s. kid for one to allow this. the guys we are talking about are pros. they have played h.s and college ball.
most h.s. kids are so wet behind the ears that just getting them into the right place andthe right times is a adventure.

Airman-
LOL
How many times do I have to explain to you that you are in a ____ Tech, not a _____ Tech (insert whatever technique fits) We have to get lined up right 1st and foremost!

all i remember was watching Troy play back at our archrival in Oregon and his old HC would tell him to line up on one side or the other and "create hell for them."
