I do a large variety of things at my school including coaching multiple sports. I'm getting to the point I feel like I need a planner. For those of you who use one can you give suggestions on what you use? Thanks in advance.

Google Calendar. I used to carry around a planner, but I don't really write much in it anymore. Everything goes onto Google Calendar.

Google Calendar.
I have several - family stuff, my children's sporting events, football, and football ideas. I can merge them all in one of single them out individually. I find in invaluable.

I have tried to get into Google Calendar and for whatever reason I just haven't been as good about using it as I am about a paper planner... I use a planner similar to this that has the week on the left side and a page for notes on the right side. On the right side I have at least three to-do list every week - one for school (grading, copies, etc. in a prioritized list), one for home (cleaning, laundry, yard work, etc), and one for "business" aka doctor's appointments, meetings, reminders, etc. On the left/calendar side I have anything outside of my normal day's routine. So practice and classes don't go in there but games, travel, meetings, interviews, social plans, etc. all do. I keep it with me just about all of the time so it works for me.

I use the iOS calendar on my phone. My wife and I have shared personal calendars and a family calendar, but those all run through Google Calendar. I just populate them on the iOs calendar. I also have an Athletics calendar as well as a football calendar that runs through MaxPreps Teams app. I don't like handwritten ones because you can't share them and sometimes things change!

I use Fantastical on my iphone for my stuff (my wife doesn't). My wife is somewhat old school in that events must be written on the calendar that hangs in the cupboard. If something is not on THAT calendar, it's not on the calendar.

I use Sportsyou app. I have it set up to separate the teams I coach (track and football) the teams my kids are on so I don't miss their events, a family calendar and a me calendar. It is color coded and I can send alerts to any group of people I wish fairly easily.

I use Dayrunner. You can get them at OfficeMax or Staples.

If you like to write things down rather than keep them electronically, I like to use a large desk calendar in my classroom. I pin it to a cork board. It is essentially in my face anytime I'm at my desk. Large enough to where I can't just overlook it or forget to look at it.

Keeps my personal planner devoid of pesky things like staff meetings and observation schedules and stuff.

Our principal and AD both basically told me that I need to start using a planner because I'm so involved in so many different parts of campus life that they don't want things to fall through the crack. The principal in particular recommended one of those for me. I'm struggling, but I'm not going to give up on it. It's like anything else, you have to make a deliberate, consistent effort to establish a habit/discipline.

I am the AD at our school, HC, and we have a family of 3 all the while we are general contracting a house build. There is probably 10 days out of the school year we don't have stuff happening. Using it started slow but it allowed me to add in all of the dates for stuff in the school year etc. Honestly it has saved my a$$ a few times this year because I was able to plan better. My wife is a massage therapist and yoga teacher (easy boys its not as much fun as you would think ) She started using it for her business and she uses all of the guided reflection pieces. I don't use those very well yet. The part I like best is they have an academic version so it is the school year and they make big books which for me I write like a caveman it is good.
