Would love to hear what camps teams are going to, if any. Also 7 on 7, lineman stuff, etc. Our school is going to a full-contact camp in Gunnison, Colorado in June, 12 hour busride for us. We used to go the San Diego State and University of New Mexico 7 on 7 team camp. We also host our own 7 on 7/ Big Man Challenge. Will be doing all of our 7 on 7 in state, just traveling to other schools, while still trying to get into a league.

We will probably play in few 7 on 7 tournaments and I know a coach nearby who wants to set up a weekly game. I plan on encouraging as many kids who can to go to individual and team camps. We will have a camp of our own, but we have a pretty poor area so we probably won't have that many kids go to other camps.

www.bchighschoolfootball.com/bcfootball/7on7/index.htmfound this on their page (this is a sample one, I've never been to the Big Kahuna)--- GATORAGE LINEMAN / STRONGMAN CHALLENGE This year’s event will again include the Gatorade Lineman Challenge. The competition will consist of five events: 1. 185 Pound Bench Press (number of reps) 2. Truck Tire Toss 3. Obstacle Course 4. 5-man Truck Push 5. Tug-o-War The Lineman Challenge will take place on Sunday, July 9th. Each team must consist of 5 or 6 players. The cost is $75 US ($90 Cdn) for the first team, $50 US for each additional team. I think when our linemen did one they substituted some of the activities. Not everyone would have the ability to do all of these events.

Pretty similar for are big man challenge. We have the weightroom comp, bench, squat, and clean. Flatbead truck push timed, and are looking at adding obstacle course this year. We have had teams in the past that use their LB's and some RB's, they swear that they are their lineman. I am pretty sure there is another thread about lineman challenges somewhere on this website.

We start a freshmen only camp the very first day of summer break (which for us is Memorial Day) and then pick up with the varsity the next week. We have a more detailed summer compared to last, but we have a more inexperienced team this year too. No 7 on 7's (we run Diamond-T), but one team camp at Southern Illinois U, a two week team camp, plus one "minicamp" as preparation for the SIU camp.

I had some big plans. We were planning to go to a team camp, some 7 on 7, and putting on a Lineman Challenge or Powerlifting Meet. In addition to that there were several kids I was going to take to individual camps. I had also planned to open the weightroom all summer.
However, a week ago the school board decided to R.I.F. my teaching position. So now my summer plans include finding a job

If you're like most Americans of the male persuasion, wondering where your sex life went and moving furniture from one wall to the other in the same room ad infinitum.

Well, being told to paint when you're told to paint what you're told to paint can be an enlightening life experience - or so I've been told.
If you can't coach at home, how do you expect to be able to coach on the field?
(Just kidding, airman - been happily married for 25+ years to the greatest coach's wife ever).
Best wishes to the both of you for a long, healthy and happy.

I'm going to spend my summer fighting over kids with the basketball coaches. Just kidding (well, sort of!).
We have a junior high camp in June and then a team lift and practice every Monday in June. We also have a couple of 7 on 7's scheduled (just like football, except without the fun!), and two team camps, one at school and then a 3-day deal at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.

We are doing 7-on-7 now and will finish in a week. During May we have spring practice which is where we will install the package. In June we go to Univ. Nevada-Reno full contact camp. Then we have summer conditioning 3-4 nights a week.
I'm just not a big believer in 7-on-7. It's just a different game than real football. Everyone seems to have a 7-on-7 offense that is totally different than what they play in the fall. The last two weeks we have played teams that use 4 WR spread. Neither is a spread team, and at least one of these teams runs the double wing. We are a true spread team (100%) and we saw man-press a few snaps last year. In 7-on-7, everyone runs press and the linebackers fly out of the box. While there is some very minor value to 7-on-7, we don't waste a lot of time on it.
