I have to laugh listening and watching our game film this am... i could hear the oohs and ahs when we threw the ball deep. we threw deep four or five times and all were incomplete (one was perfect and dropped by a wide open te)...the fans actually CLAPPED for our kids after the incompletions. yet , its dead quiet when we pound a team with a perfectly executed 4 yard run.

We won a game 54-00 and the following week a dad of a reciever said we need to throw the ball more. I told him, we would throw more if needed. We do work on it every day in practice and throw "quite a bit". But I am just too old school I guess.

Heard a great "come-back" comment made by a local coach who has a very good running offense. He was introduced to the city's new mayor who asked, "Are you going to throw the ball more this year?" The coach responed , "Are you going to lower our taxes?" Some people don't get it, do they? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I went to a game recently as a fan and i kept hearing all the fans and parents complaining about play calling. I looked at my wife and started laughing. Just a few years ago this guy had a 50 something straight games winning streak snapped and more recently he's one back to back state titles in 5A Florida yet still he has people all over him for his play calling...The funny thing was anyone with a clue could see what he was doing...It was a non division game the other team had half the players and it was a very muggy night. He was going to work on his running game and in the process wear out the other team. And it worked...Live practice for his run game played it safe and steamrolled the other team in the second half. They only threw the ball about 3 times in the first half and still lead 21-0 at the half. I guess some fans are never happy. I wonder how many wins you need before they stop questioning you. This guys like top 5 all time winningest coaches in the state of florida I guess you need to be at least top 3. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Reminds me of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans back when Tony Dungy was still here and Shula's little boy was calling plays.

you know it goes the other way to. i hear about how I should run the ball more, especially on the goalline. I should pack it into the telephone booth.
i heard a parent say one time how passing the ball was not going to get his rb style kid a scholarship. never mind the kid got a scholarship as a slot rec., not a rb because when you are 5-10 and 165 pounds, you are not going to get a rb scholarship unless you run like the wind.
so it works both ways. run teams get told to pass more, pass teams get told to run the ball more.
my favorite anti pass saying is 3 things can happen when you pass the ball and 2 are bad. actually 4 things can happen and 2 are good(completion and pass inter), 1 bad(int) and a incomplete pass to us is just a do over, another chance to complete a pass for a td.

i dunno, sack or holding, intentional grounding, dropped passes, ...lots of bad stuff lol.
the thing that makes it all the more rediculous is that we have yet to punt this year and are scoring more than a point a minute. so, productivity isnt the issue, its style. style doesnt win football games.

Or my QB gets the crap knocked out of him because he won't just throw the freakin' thing away when there's nothing there. But it's ok, he's 5' 10" 145lbs. so he's pretty durable. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

In all my years with passing the ball I can tell you I have had maybe 10 intentional grounding plays.
