Our HS program is buying tackling rings this year and I'm JACKED about them. We went to the Seahawk tackling system last year and this off-season we've learned variations and refined our coaching points a bit and the rings should be a huge addition to the program. HC and I have been milling over what sizes we should get, but since we've never used them I figured I'd better get some input from coaches who have.
Sizes:
36" Outside Diameter x 16" Inside Diameter 8" thick and 32 lbs
42" Outside Diameter x 24" Inside Diameter 9" thick and 41 lbs
48" Outside Diameter x 25" Inside Diameter 11" thick and 21 lbs.
54" Outside Diameter x 28" Inside Diameter 12" thick and 24 lbs.
60" Outside Diameter x 30" Inside Diameter 12" thick and 27 lbs.
We're thinking about 42" and 48" but wonder if maybe 36" and 42" would be better? I'm just not sure.
Has anyone used these sizes of rings?

Same here. Looking at getting one we can use for our middle school team and one for our varsity. I was thinking about the 36" (middle school tackling / varsity cut blocks) and 42" (varsity tackling). Anyone have recommendations?

We got the 36” tackling rings for high school varsity and F/S. They seem to work well.

We used our 36" and 42" rings for the first time last week and I loved them. Really happy with them at this time, will see what happens when we get further into summer and if our tackling improves from week 9 last year to week 1 this year.
