Schools that are cutting back of PE and recess don't get to walk away on this.

This goes into many different arguments, but it is not the kids who have changed, but adults. The quote unqoute adults in the room have practically or are in the process of ruining every single sport. And you name the reason.

The Genie is long out of the bottle, there's no going back. The parents drank the scholarship Kool-Aid a long time ago, and its worse now than ever on that front. My granddaughter plays 15 and under Club Volleyball and that's ALL the parents talk about, which gets pretty old at an all-day tournament.

My Mom told me my 7 year old brother will probably need to focus on baseball the other day while we were on the phone. They're not even pitching in his league.

As long as parents are willing to write checks, there will be so-called "sport-specific gurus" who continue telling them that "If Joe-Bob just plays (name the sport) all year long, he will get a scholarship to XXXX." We want and encourage our kids to play various sports throughout the year, but have had it with these clowns who tell kids to specialize in one sport. There are quite a few male athletes in our school who would be good high school football players, but they won't come out because their club coach tells then it might ruin their chance for a scholarship. The real irony is the that these same kids don't start varsity or even start JV. They've drunk the industrial-strength kool-aid.

One of my proudest moments as a dad was when my son's Little League coach asked if he wanted to be nominated for the all star team. My son answered, "Aw, I think I've had enough baseball".
