for teams which do not platoon, do you practice every thing every day or do you practice alternating days O on one and D on the other?
which do you prefer and why?

We do both every day. Shorter segments, kids keep better attention. Review every day creates better retention.

That is a lot of practice...I don't know if I can hold the guys' attention that long. We will emphasize either offense or defense, but we will do some of each every day. We do extra point and punt every day.
On offensive days, we will work on pass defense (7-on-7 or simply ind. time) and formation recognition and adjustments. If the team is an option team, we will run a no-ball option responsibility drill. Then we do our normal indy, group, and team drills.
On defensive days, we run a fast paced, sometimes no huddle, script of at least 30 plays right after our extra point and punt periods. We practice our audibles and checks during this time, working exclusively on our option game. Another way I get a little offense worked into the defense days is to work on our quick passing game during our Indy defense time. Every team runs some kind of quick pass, so we work on our 30 pass game 1-on-1. Our starting QB is also a starting corner, so he takes a few reps at Corner, then we switch.

What states are you allowed to practice on Sunday? most states require only on day off for athletes during the week. i know in my state(wisconsin) that is the case. most coaches bring their players in on sat morning or sunday evening.
