Since it is good to have hobbies, what do you guys do besides coach football. I mean you can really get caught up in the football thing year round if you want to.
Me I am a runner and a fitness guy. I am going to run my first full marathon this summer. I have run half marathons to this point. I am not a hunter but I do like to shoot trap and target shoot in the summer time.
so what do you guys like to do?

I play guitar every week in church. Used to play in some bands in college. I still record people from time to time.
I would love to hunt, just never have the time. I am more of a fisher. Love to sit out on the water and fish. When we go up on vacation, I spend the majority of the time out on a tiny lake fishing. Especially love it late at night or early in the morning.
I also love to read. Not just coaching books, everything. Clive Cussler is one of my favorites, probably because of all the history involved.

Hunt and Fish. Nothing better than getting out with my yellow lab and watch him work to get up pheasants.

I give you fish guys credit. I would not be a good fisherman. ADHD would be the best to discribe my feelings of sitting in a boat. more power to you guys who can. i can see how it is relaxing with the picture you are painting.

Right now I like to get out and run. I am also spending a pretty good amount of time planning a wedding. When we get snow (not sure what is going on with our weather up here in MN this year) I also like to ski.
This coming summer I am starting an administrative licensure/doctoral degree program so I am sure that will also take up free time.

BEING A DAD! It's kind of nice this time of year. The off season (for me) is not nearly as time consuming as the season is. I also like to watch the kids I coach in their winter sports. I'd never coach high school basketball again, but I like watching it.

Read- Clancy, Sandford, Dorsey, RW White, MacDonald (Travis McGee is my mentor!) Work on my old house. Seemed like a good idea when I bought it . I'm on again off again with the running/fitness thing.

Besides football sorry I should have also added catching up on reading...Just finished the Nick Saban book and looking into some leadership books...great quote yesterday by Head Coach at UCLA...saying that he thought he could win strictly based on X and O's when he got there...and realized that was not all it was about...

When I can get away with it: Saltwater fishing, mostly flats fishing. and attend our monthly football meetings (chalk & lie) at the beach sports bar.
When my wife wins: Work around the house.

Texas Hold'em... play a lot on line... at friends houses, and when I can at the local casino... but outside of that, I do a lot of things with the family... walking the trails is my favorite weekend thing to do...

From early December to mid January I hunt geese about 4 days a week because I'm self-employed and can work evenings.
In summer I fly fish and guide fly fishermen.
I wish I read more, but not yet.

Lots of hunters and fishers here.. I spend as much time as I can catching up on all of the paperwork for my business that I've neglected for the past 5 months (I'd fire me if I didn't own the place because of the time I spend on football and NOT working-LOL), and chilling with my Boxers.. I really do miss those dogs for those hours during football season..

weights and wine......and women.
I need to get back heavy into the cardio, though, and plan to get back into rugby this year. I am a big fan of contemporary jazz, and try to make as many live performances as I can. I am a pretty good shot (marksmen courses as a teenager), just never got into hunting.

Hmmm...
Read alot. But mainly football stuff. Workouts. But mainly to train our football guys. Play PS2. But mainly football (Madden, NCAA 07). Play Chess. But mainly to develop strategy mind for football. Dates with wifey. But mainly thinking about football when out. Watch videos. But mainly football ones or ones that would be good motivational ones to show the football guys.
HA!!!

work the weight room with the boys. This is when I can get to know them at a level that I'm not screaming at them as I can do in the fall. A great time to build relationships and probably the ONLY time I'll have conversations with the Freshmen in our program.
other than that? Ski, read, argue with others, beat my kids at Madden 07, work on the homestead, do socials with my staff, recruit kids in my building.
If you aren't doing something EACH day to better your program, you need to find a new profession. Sometimes getting away from it to just clear your head could better the program. Find the balance and go succeed!

Wait a second, are you trying to say that there is something else besides football? Is the apocalypse upon us???
Actually, I think cc's answer is probably the closest to mine. Sad, huh?
