... on a Monday!
Located in Northern California where we’ve been hit by a devastating combination of wildfires and high winds. Had our Friday game cancelled due to air pollution and moved to today. Our game this Friday vs our rivals has been moved to Saturday. Awkward times up here. Also had to practice in the gym the last three days since we couldn’t go outside. Wtf.
Anybody else ever do stuff like this?

Anybody else ever do stuff like this? A few times. The big ones were when the DC sniper forced the postponement of games across Virginia and after Hurricane Isabel. Around here it doesn't even take a disaster. We share a city stadium with three other schools and five schools in a neighboring city share a stadium. We play games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If a game has to be postponed there's nowhere to put it but Monday.

Players feeling sluggish, beat up, unmotivated, etc? We should be good seeing as how it’s our rival game, but it’s still good to hear it from guys who’ve experienced it. How’d you handle the practices coming out of the game? Any differently or business as usual?

When I coached in the North Section in California, they played the Section Championship game on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so you had a play-off game on Friday, and sometimes Saturday, and turned right around and played the most important game of the year with short rest and practice time. I think their reasoning was it cut into hunting season. Pretty redneck up there.

How’d you handle the practices coming out of the game? Any differently or business as usual? We can't practice on Sundays so there's a problem with the kids coming out flat during the Monday game. We'll have our usual Sunday staff meeting and game plan for the next opponent. If the next game is Saturday just treat Tuesday practice like Monday.

We had a second round playoff game postponed until a Monday about 5 years ago due to fire, third round game was already scheduled for the following Saturday.
We prepped for both possible third round opponents on the weekend. After the game Monday night we had the kids come watch film on Tuesday and treated it like a normal Monday practice.
Just know going in that they probably won't look good on the practice field until Thursday or Friday. Expect a lot of soreness and fatigue early in the week due to essentially skipping a weekend between the end of one game and the beginning of the next practice week.

Lastvyear i was in a league that mandated everyone play on labour day because it used to be opening weekend and it used to time with the start of school. It is no longer either of those things so now teams have to play Monday and sometimes get turned around to play Friday. It's just a dumb vestige of what used to be a tradition.

I live in the NW. It seems like our state burns every summer/fall. We have lost practices and had had games rescheduled 2 of the last 3 years. This year we lost 6 days of practice and had games rescheduled our firs 2 weeks. It's not ideal but it happens.
