Last year we had the Syrup incident at the high school that I played for - coachhuey.com/thread/75118/when-locker-room-stuff-goes
They fired the coach, he’s still at the school as a math teacher, and opened the HC position. I applied, but they hired a pro football player, went for the big deal coach with very little HS experience. And here is my recap of when I interviewed for the job - coachhuey.com/thread/75958/30-000-feet-interview-recap
So yesterday the new HC gets fired, 1 week into the season.

I get this in an email late last night from a relative who is in upper levels of the academics at another school in the area:
This (http://www.sanluisobispo.com/sports/high-school/article169030192.html) was published the day before he was fired... I do not think that it was the final "firing factor" as there were rumors of swearing at players at the first game Friday, drug bust fo players and possibly coach by PR PD at Paso High yesterday, recruited players leading other players to spit on players that were "ratting out" the coach, etc. etc. And then there is the verified reports of coach not having drivers license do to past DUI, texting players for rides, tape recordings of coach calling students vulgar and inappropriate names, coach's financial woes, students transferring out, and misusing Booster funds. <Good Soldier> was named the interim coach.. <GS> is great and local but no credential or varsity experience. He did coach JV and is the current defensive coach. It is a very ugly and embarrassing situation. Very bad for students. I hope all is well in frogville. I see all that you do for those players and wish the Bearcats had the same.... that reminds me.. <Superintendent> suggested changing the school colors. Black was first suggestion,, then cardinal.. all new school staff shirts and paint is bright red (Cardinal??) instead of the traditional darker red that we all new as crimson... he now denies suggesting the change.
Today I looked up the word "Schadenfreude" just to make sure that I had it right. And I did - the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another. Normally I don't go in for that, waste of time usually. But today, I have a new found appreciation for Schadenfreude. I'm not against the HC here, my Schadenfreude is directed at the administration that I dealt with during and after the interview process. They got what they wanted and it came back to bite them.
Now all is right with the world. Except that I still need some OG’s and a backup QB. And a DE. Just 1 DE is all I need. Well, maybe the DE and a Mike. Yeah, that would do it.
