I stopped into Dick's Sporting Goods to see about getting my player a Xenith helmet but the store manager said they were out and would not be selling the brand next year in a 10 min speech about the helmets. I just went ahead and bought a Riddell as thats what they had in stock. Just wanted to get other coaches opinion. Should we stick with Riddell? Also if we did want to try a Xenith where would we buy it? No one seems to carry them and the dealers we talk to tell us the helmets crack. Not sure what to believe.

That is a great site. We looked at them, thank you. One of our coaches called Xenith directly and got a better price for the helmets vs that site and offered us next day free shipping. We will see how the helmets are received. Fingers crossed.

I hate to be that guy but I honestly think Xenith = Betamax = HD-DVD.
We tried Xeneth about five years ago. Decent product, good for odd shaped heads, but a PITA to adjust. The customer service was pathetic. Since then, nobody of significance has jumped on board with them.
My prediction is Xenith is out of the game in 5 years. I wouldn't want my program outfitted in them for that reason alone.

Your probably right. Hope the helmets last through the year then. I thought the same thing when we saw free next day shipping. Any company offering that is about ready to go under. Worked at UPS for years. Amazon can't even afford to do that.

This is my first opportunity to have any Zeniths. Can't stand them. They're a super pain in the a-- if something needs replaced.

Sold Xenith for years under a rep group under the old management. The helmets have good technology but they haven't added to that technology in four years. Nothing new. The company is also poorly ran. I can tell you that every dealer is dropping them across the country. They turned against all the dealers midseason selling direct to the consumers at low ball numbers to get rid of inventory. Very shady company. I would recommend returning them and going with a Riddell. At least they will still be around in five years and you will have no issues getting parts.

We use Xenith and are very happy with them. The 2017 models do have some changes, the most obvious is they have change the cheekpad from one of their round pods to a padded trapezoid that velcros in. Our players like them, can get a 5 star helmet for under $200. Haven't had any issues with repairs, we get them reconditioned each year and any straps that are bad get replaced. The pods are very simple to repair if one gets worn thru. We have been using them for 5 years and haven't had any rejected or crack. I am in Louisville, KY and our main sporting goods dealer sells them all the time. It was weird you mentioned Dicks in this area they don't even sell adult helmets just youth stuff and mostly the cheaper models of youth helmets

We have used them almost exclusively for 5 years now. Very few problems, the only thing that would be more difficult to replace would be the chinstrap but we have yet to have one break. Every thing else is the same as any other helmet. You say they are hard to adjust, but they do also have the advantage of not having to worry about air bladders and adjustments that way. We are big fans.

Is there a reasoning behind that?

Riddell > all others, IMO.
A few years ago I coached some kids whose dads didn't like the Schutts we had (which were pretty crappy) so they bought their boys some fancy new Xeniths. They looked cool and were well made, and a bunch of the other kids got jealous, but we couldn't adjust crap on them. Thankfully, since it belonged to the kids, we didn't need to worry too much about that.

That was my experience with Riddell too.
I seriously think some parents see how expensive Xeniths are and assume they must be top-of-the-line, nothing being too good for Junior.

I have use Xenith before in the past and I would highly recommend them. We never had any problems with them. I keep hearing about parts, and I'm wanting to ask the Ridell people how is parts easier for your program than Xenith? Xenith the parts are all the same with the helmets, with Ridell different helmets use different straps or snaps. Plus Ridell spits out a new style helmet every couple of years..and you guessed it..with new parts that only fit that helmet which becomes a pain to keep up with.

Actually Xenith re did their jaw pads for 2017 on both X2E and Epic models, and while the chinstrap parts and pods are the same on both models the comfort liners are different. So you do have different parts for different t Xeniths too. But it has been my experience with Xenith that most of the parts are replaced during annual reconditioning and not during the year in five years of using them have replace 4-5 pods for wear, and one chinstrap was replaced for broken strap another for broken chin cup. Replacing the chinstrap can be a pain on a Xenith, but we've only had to do 2 in season in 5 years, started with just 4 Xenith that first year now have about 35.

I will never do business with Xenith again. Hands down, the WORST customer service of any major equipment supplier I have ever used. Absolutely brutal.

Speed Flex is the only helmet I will put my son in. If I wont put my own son in it I wont put yours in it. I hate fixing those f***ing helmets. It's like they were designed to be a major pain to fix/replace anything. WHY DID THEY FEEL THE NEED TO TRY TO IMPROVE UPON A F***ING SCREW AND POST SET UP? Ok, rant over.

We've had some since they came out. Had a few problems, but no more than any other brand. We buy through a middle man so when we have problems we go to them. Usually always get stuff fixed promplty. But i agree changing things around is a pain.
