We are looking at and pricing headsets.
I want hands free open communication so we can both be talking two way all the time.
How many of you have this? I have heard this is very expensive.
So are other option is the motorola sets where you have to push to talk. I dont like push to talk. I want my hands free to hold the scripts etc and to write down something. I dont like push to talk as I find you cut each other off or miss stuff.
What are your thoughts / suggestions?
Can we get two way open? Does anyone have this? What company do you go with?
Thanks!

I don't know if you are the same person who asked this question on Bucksweep.com but here is what we got. We got CoachComm headsets. Two way...channel "X" and Channel "O". We were very happy with them. They worked great never had any problems with them. Have a flexible mic boom. They have a button on them so you can turn off your mic and yell at the players! We got a 4 man set. Two field sets and one box set that has two headsets off of it. We payed $3500 even. They seem like they can negotiate the price so you might be bale to get a better deal if you try. We were given $3500 to spend on them and thats what we told them. Coachcomm.com is their website. Let me know if you want more info. Steve

we have the coachcomm headsets just like scox80 has....HC can go between O and D channel by flipping a switch, and everything is hands free for the talking part

We have PORTA PHONES- hands free headsets(4 guys in box with headsets and 4 guys on field with headsets); they usually work well. Our system is always open. The defensive and offensive coaches speak only to their respective counterparts, unless the head coach wants to flip so we can all talk to each other. When we have had problems, we call them and send the phones out on a Saturday or Monday morning, and get them back by Thursday (unless the problem is a really big one). One year we had a really big problem and they sent a PUSH-TO-TALK phones as loaners. BAD NEWS!!!! We had a tough time communicating because we were not used to push-to-talk.

We use non-push-to-talk Porta-phones also. I wouldn't recommed them. We seems to have issues often -- volume not working, static, cutting in and out. Very frustrating whenyou're trying to communicate during a game.

We use Coachcomm too.. We have had many problems in the past.. This year seemed pretty seamless for the most part.. We have a pressbox O and D.. 3 O sidelines and 2 D sidlines.. with 1 HC that can switch back and forth.. Once this year the Pressbox O was not charged up all the way and we had problems.. Because the Pressbox set is the key communicator.. if its off.. the sideline guys cannot talk.. We have had to send them in for servicing a couple of times.. one time on our on accord.. We had a frog choker rain game.. and after the game.. we forgot to take them out of the box and dry everything out.. so they sat in water for 4 days.. Luckily we borrowed a set from a coaching staff who played on thursday night that week. They were the OLD push button kind.. they were green and reminded me of something those old phone switch board ladies would wear..

We use (and have used for years) PortaPhones.....I would recommend you use tin cans and string if you're going to go this route.....at least you'd get a consistent product.
The Motorolla CoachComm sets are Sweet (got to use one once).
