The last school I was at we folded them and put them in Rubbermaid tubs. I had one for eligible numbers and one for OL numbers. At my new place we have a place to hang them.

If you didn't want to put them in totes, you can buy clothes racks with wheels that are fairly cheap I believe.

my only concern about clothes racks is if they would hold the weight...

my only concern about clothes racks is if they would hold the weight... We had a couple at my high school I believe and they held the weight. But I don't know the brand name or how much they cost. I'm assuming the more you pay the more it would hold. I've seen a few online through browsing that hold different weights from like 70-250 LBs.

I second the idea of putting them in rubbermaid or similar-type storage containers. If hanging isn't an option, that may be your best bet. Get smaller ones that will only fit about 10 jerseys and you can stack them. Easier for 1 guy to move them if they are in smaller containers and if you have 2-3 helpers, you can move all of them very quickly.
I didn't use different numbers for sub-varsity, so that there was no number shuffling on friday nights. Had a full 120 jersey set of everything with 60 skill and 60 line numbers.
1-9 (I usually had 2 #1s because it is such a popular number) 10-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 (doubled up all of these. Made the 2nd jersey 2 sizes bigger so a kid could grow into it) 60-69 (Doubled up all of these. Made the 2nd jersey 2 sizes bigger so a kid could grow into it) 70-79 80-89 90-99
You could have 6 stacks of skill numbers next to 6 stacks of lineman numbers and they would be easy to access and move if needed. You could store them where a single cabinet would be and if maintenance needs access to the wall, the tubs easily slide out of the way.
KEEP THOSE MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAL GUYS HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are your best friend's in the long-run. They can get more stuff done for you than admin most places.

We use a product called Gear boss, sold by wenger. www.wengercorp.com/athletics/x-cart.phpA more expensive version compared to the rubber maid suggestions, but it is quite nice. We have one to hang our helmets and one for Jerseys, game pants and spare cleats. They come with the option to put them on tracks so you can slide them like stacks in the library, but we just have our two on wheels.
