Any 9-man coaches from North Dakota or South Dakota on here?

Close - we're just above ND in Brandon, MB, Canada and play nine-man ball in the Rural Manitoba Football League.

We are assessing our defense and want to analyze the different defenses out there. Trying to see what ideas are out there defensively. As you know, there is no defensive references out there and everything has to be developed internally. What defensive scheme do you run? Are you sold on it?

Kind of an odd coincidence--I live in Brandon, MN.

coachjohnson,
Coach Boyd is an excellent football coach. He was a senior OL for me at Minot State my 2nd year of college coaching. He is very dedicated and is awesome with kids. I believe he will be in Minneapolis for the Nike clinic. He has also been known to partake in adult beverages!!!

Coach: My 2-Level defense adapts very nicely to 9-man ball, and is one of very few effective ways of cutting off the vertical field. As you know, anything that slows down scoring in 9-man football is a good thing...contact me if you're interested and I can work something up for you. (Which I will also be happy to share, at least in general terms, with the board.)

Thanks for the kind words Jay. I will be in Minneapolis for the Nike conference and believe me when I say I will be taking advantage of the price of American "adult beverages" while I'm there. Our DC runs mostly 3-4 but he will run a 4-3 at times. He runs with 2 safeties with one basically acting as a corner when there is a WR out there. Things are pretty mixed offensively in our league, from 3-man backfields to a modified spread so the 2 safety system works well. As far as coverages go, he goes between cover 3 (buck linebacker takes middle) and man. I'm the O guy so I hope I've explained this well enough.

I didn't know people in Canada drank the adult cokes. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I am missing the Nike clinic this year. We see alot of three-back and I backfields in our conference. Most teams try to play smashmouth. We are the only spread team. Anyway, we have used a 3-3 Stack, 3-3 Eagle, and 4-2 the past two seasons. At this point, we are not completely sold on any of these. We have a defensive meeting coming up in about a month and I just wanted to see what else is out there. Do you think your defensive coordinator would mind corresponding with me? I would appreciate it if he was willing to answer some questions. Ted--I am interested in learning more. Please chech your PM.
