Again, just curious to see how consistent this is.
I played for a WingT coach. (9,8,7...1)
My first coaching gig was odd left/even right...first even was 2, center was 0
Currently coaching with an org that has odd left/even right no center #, first even is 0.
Drives me nuts!!

I've coached all 3. I find the "odd left / even right" with the C as "0" and first even as "2" to be the most simple and concise. That's what we use in our system now.

We don't use any numbers for holes. As a zone team, we try to stress reading where the play will hit. The backs have aiming points based on play called.

I never understood numbering the center 0. You number holes, but then you number a man... How many plays run right up the center's crack besides midline or a sneak...

Number gaps is fine for DIVE TEAMS...but what about double teams etc. We number the man, this gives us aiming points for kickouts etc. Its also a big part of the good god system in that we number the man, he hears HIS number called and knows we are running at him. hes the big block at the poa.

My center is both 0 and 1. Right cheek is 0 and left cheek is1. This is what we use... the A-gap is 0 to the right and 1 to the left. B-gap is 2-3, C-gap is 4-5, D-gap is 6-7, and Outside is 8-9

I think the answer to your question should be answered this way. If the OC uses "0' for the A gap then "0" is the way it goes, if you are the OC then "2" is the A gap. As an OC for 27 years I would not let an assistant coach tell me to change my system basically if you don't like the system ........coach somewhere else otherwise adjust to his system and coach your kids !

Hmmm...do any of you flip-flop your OL and move the numbers with them...you know...quick guard, quick tackle, strong guard, strong tackle...even numbers to strong side, odd to quick side?
In some of our teams we do this, in some we don't.

We do not use holes at all in our run game. We use names and gaps and aim points for every play. Depending on the play the RB knows where he is going and the OL block the play certain way.
