I would be wary in trying to apply analytics too much to the HS game; at least in regards to in game events and their impact on the final outcome. The variables arent as controlled or homogeneous as they are at the college and pro level to provide meaningful or accurate data.

That's not as hard to control for as you might think...IF you know what you're doing.

That's not as hard to control for as you might think...IF you know what you're doing. I think the talent variable is too great to get an actual read on what is the lead measure for success (outside of course of talent). We had the discussion on here before about how many games are decided before they are even played in the HS game (some would argue over half of them). I know I have been in plenty of games where the more talented team could have literally punted on any 2nd down and still won by 30. Now you have those mismatches in there skewing the data- a team that talent dictates should win by 60 does makes all the wrong moves but still wins by 20 and the data seems to think they did the right things. I guess you could try to rely on only games where Maxpreps or some other service thinks it is a close match-up, but once again you are duped because of teams like I listed above (greatly out talents the opposition, but doesnt make the right moves)

That's not really the point of prescriptive analytics though.

I have received their emails. Their work is not up to snuff. I feel like I've done most of the stuff they claim, on my own. And it was free.
