Just the other day, a rising SR WR who was turning the corner, jumped up to catch a ball and came down stiff legged. Dislocated his hip. The ball of the femur was in his buttocks. He had surgery yesterday to fix a crack in the femur. Joint is okay, no muscle damage. He'll be out 6 months. Kid is 6'6" about 215. I never heard anything like it.

Had it happen to a 150 lb WR/FS who got hammered by a 235 lb D1 LB from behind. Landed with the dude on top of him, popped out, contributed to my lousy defense becoming awful.

Could have been worse, could have been the other way around.

I'll one up you all.
I will start my saying that I don't like "Hawk" tackling. It's stupid and a code word for "Arm" tackling. However, I think it's good for corners.
Any who, was running a drill with our CBs this summer. Up padded and had the tackling one of those big, soft, red bags that you set as boundaries during Oklahomas. Kid tackles it and breaks both clavicles.

Our backup QB got concussed in our final scrimmage. Fast forward to game #1, he's in civilian clothes on the sideline, running back gets pushed out of bounds and collides with...the now newly reconcussed backup QB. Given that it's his third concussion in less than a year, his parents decided that it's best that he pack it in for 2017.

Had our kicker break both wrists on the same play in our scrimmage a few years ago. Was playing WR on a sweep and went to block. Crossed his hands and the defender put the crown of his helmet on his wrists.

Had a RB break his femur just making a cut in a non contact team period. Worst sound I've ever heard

Had my starting nose fracture his wrist today; we were doing a drill where an OL lines up about 5 yards away from a scout defensive player and jogs at an angle just to simulate a vault block angle. My nose was playing the scout defensive spot and while jogging to match the simulated angle somehow banged his arm against his own shoulder/chest pad....fractured wrist!
I was standing 5 yards away and still have no clue how this happened.

We had a kid some years back snap his leg at the mid shin level just running down the field, no one within 5 yards of him. We looked for holes in the turf he might have stepped in, nothing.

Fast forward, kid finally got cleared about a month ago. He wasn't a starter, and is a senior. He could read the writing on the wall that missing all that time he probably wasn't going to get a lot of PT at WR. Asked to move to defense as a DB. He's 6'6" and about 220. I told him he was more than welcome, but with both safeties returning and 1 was All Region and he probably wan't going to get much PT over here either.
I said that honestly the best way to get any PT was to do what every college coach asked when the saw him on the practice field, would he put his knuckles in the dirt. He agreed to work at some DE. So now he is in the rotation there getting about 12-15 snaps a game and got his first sack the other week.
