We ran several different tempo changes this year and had a lot of success with it. Wondering if anyone else is doing different types of tempo changes.

I've done it before. We liked it a lot and had a lot of success with it.

At a clinic, Coach Dodge of SLC went into quite a bit of detail regarding changing the tempo of the offense.
His theory was: If defenses are trying to disguise coverages or send in advanced D Calls (blitzes, zone blitzes) he will go to a super fast tempo to get them out of it. Even if it means that the play called will run right into the teeth of the D... get up on the line and run that play to unsettle the D.
He seemed to view tempo as important as the play being called. Force the D into generic coverages and blitzes...

That is exactly how I approached it this year. It caused the defense problems with stemming, disguising coverages, and subing personel. Anytime a defense was in a personel we liked we went Indy and caused them to stay in that personel or call a timeout, happened several times. Was very effective for us.
