What is the difference between NCAA D-III and NAIA football? Would the top NCAA D-III teams be able to compete with the top NAIA teams?

NAIA is going to give athletic aid. Yes, I think the Carroll's and St Francis's of NAIA and the Mt Union's and St John's would be very competitive.

I agree, I think NAIA top schools are probably better, but I think they would compete with each other, because NAIA can give aid, that aides them in the process.

when I used to coach at the NAIA level we played NCAA III and lower end Div II schools and had very good success against both. In fact I thought the Div III schools from Wisconsin were better than the lower end Div II schools in Minnesota. IMO

Up until a few years ago there was something called "the Border War" or something like that between the DII teams in Minnesota and the DIII teams in Wisconsin at the Metrodome. They stopped doing it because the Wisconsin teams would win the series every year...it was great to watch!

Dont think so many of the top DIII schools wouldnt play a certain NAIA school as to not look bad if they lost, as they have toi maintain there image in there conference/division so they never play them. This was a issue when I played.

NAIA competes very well, its probably a little more competitive than NCAA III, I know thats why I went NAIA, the scholarship. JD can back me up, when we scrimmaged Univ. of North Dakota, we played them pretty well in my opinion. They were better, but if we had played a real game, it would have been competitive. They would have won though, that year they had a tight end by the name of Jim Kleinsasser.
