What are your Monday practices like?
full pads? shells? helmets only? get a lift in? film? "normal practice"?
Also, if you could (in a sentence or two) tell why your Monday practices are they the way they are?

We do lift, condition, film, and then shells if there is time. A couple of mondays this year we went over and worked with the jr high teams for about a half hour as well.
On mondays there usually isn't a whole lot that we can do on the field since the JV has a game and we don't have enough full time varsity guys to run a scout team.

we bring the kids in a saturday morning. we get a chance to check them out, get injuries taken care of and we go practice special teams for 90 to 120 min is helmets and shoulder pass and shorts.
monday is a normal practice day but with less contact, tuesday and wed are contact days, thursday is a normal practice like monday and friday morning is walkthru.

Film at lunch - begin practice with a short meeting to quickly go over the scouting report, then the major thing we do is a detailed walk through of our game plan against scout O & D. I find that this really helps to drill in assignments and prepare for Tuesday & Wednesday's full contact. We finish up with punt, punt block & punt return and of course conditioning.

Very light practice Lift, go over game plan for the week watch film condition and go home. Very small school so we don't have a lot of players and this gives them an extra day to rest from the last weeks game while also getting important things taking care of.

Lift, film, walk through ST, O, and D game plans. Sometimes (usually) the HC/OC will want to run trough some plays. If the opposing offense is something especially tricky we'll walk through a little defense, too.

At my second coaching job, players had Saturday totally off and Monday's practice was stretching and "perfect play" drill with three groups of offensive personnel. Good for conditioning and also allows us to get the players out of there early. I know not everyone believes in the Saturdays off, but a full weekend plus a light Monday really refreshed the players for the "luchpail days" of Tuesday and Wednesday. Scouting report info was also included on the field Monday. We didn't have players watch film; we felt they needed to trust us to tell them the info. Again, not for everyone, but it worked well for us.
