There were some at the AFCA clinic this year. I sat in on Tim Stowers Option vs Josh Ramos 3-4. There was no chalk/white board used. Tim got up and explained how he likes to run the option, and Josh got up there and explained about his 3-4. NO if/then, no adjustments to what the other does....I was very disappointed, but then again I was very disappointed with the AFCA convention as a whole. As far as clinics go it was one of the worst I have ever been to... I agree on all parts!!!

I've heard of something similar where coach a will send film to coach b and they will gameplan one or both sides of the ball. This is done to a) get more practice scouting an opponent and b) having someone that doesn't play you tell you about your tendencies, deficiencies, and strengths you might not think you have. The last one is the most helpful in my opinion. We all know Johnny is a turd, but has the other team found him? Finally, it may also be a good opportunity to bounce some what if/x and o stuff off each other without having to worry about giving away secrets. I've never done this full fledged, but it seems to have it's merits That sounds interesting. Anyone ever do this? PM me if interested.

I have these "chalk wars" all the time with OC buddies of mine... especially as they develop RPO packages. I draw up my base alignment, they tell me how they would attack, and I go back to the white board and see what I can do to make it better. I have no problem "losing" to them in the chalk wars.

Yeah I'd rather see it properly wargamed so the mediators determine stuff like successful blocking, play result, etc and we go through a full game. Did I just invent football dungeons and dragons? Hmm. I've actually played a really ROUGH version of D20Football........if I remember correctly at the time we had Tom Brady written up as a 15th level character. Oh to be a nerd. Just wondering what is D20Football? Never herd of that.

We have these at every clinic, it just isn't organized. There as a night at THSCA that @coachhuey and tog and @pss will remember well. I believe it was in 2012, and I will just say it just got heated! Two coaches in each other's face going at it! lemme know if I need to organize another one of these

Just wondering what is D20Football? Never herd of that. It was my geeky way of making a game that I would enjoy...never liked Dungeons or Dragons too much. Bunch of guys sitting around wasting time before/after class. Some of the arguments were really ridiculous. I'll paste a clip to explain a little. There were Tackle checks and Escape checks....based on skills characters gained/purchased. Ray Lewis had a +25 tackle bonus and Julius Jones had a +14 Escape. Either side could get a bonus based on DL checks....Julius rolled 12 for a total of 26, Ray got a 8 for 33 total...tackle. Pass plays were the hardest. Can't believed I dug this stuff up.

I say we lock a bunch of wing t and double wing guys in there and see who walks out. They'll be extremely disappointed when they have to use expo markers and its not a literal chalk board... lol LOL!
