My brother is a defensive coordinaor at a JC in Iowa and he picked up a Coaches Choice pamphlet with DVD's and books from the AFCA national convention and sent it to me. I was looking through this and ran across some information on the Flying Wing-T and I was wondering if anyone knew what this was or what differences there were compared to the traditional Wing-T.

I'm going to guess it's wing t w/ jet sweep instead of bucksweep.

Correct!!! This version of the Wing T incorporates a lot Jet Sweep or "Fly Sweep". My Junior year in high school we had 2 of our 4 relay sprinters at WB and SB. We pretty much based everything off of the Jet Motion. I could be wrong, but that is what my old coach called and still runs it to this very day.

George Crace runs this in Oregon. As others have guessed, it is Wing-T with a big dose of Fly (not Jet) Sweep. Coach Crace does a very nice job if fitting the Fly Series in with some fairly traditional Wing-T (well, for those that don't think the Red/Blue formation is a Communist plot)...one of my favorites is his combination of Fly sweep one way and buck sweep back against the Fly motion...good videos.

I'll have a look at the DVD when I get home -- I haven't seen it for many moons...

do you have the rules for the fly swwep one way and the buck sweep against the fly motion Partial cranial vaporlock on my part; I was conflating Coach Crace's Fly/Buck Sweep combination with the Truck play, which resembles the Buck Sweep and does use Fly motion in the other direction. Here's what Coach Crace does. From a Red/Blue formation with the FB offset behind the Slot/SE-side Guard, he will Fly-motion the Wing and run Fly Sweep with the offset FB leading wide to the SE side. From the same formation, he will send the Slot in deeper motion toward the TE/Wing side until he reaches the HB position on his side of the formation, dive the offset FB, hand the ball to the Slot on a Buck Sweep to the TE/WB side, and boot the QB opposite. The QB has the option to check to either play depending on the pre-snap look he gets from the D...if he has a numbers, technique and/or personnel mismatch either way, he'll check to the appropriate Sweep.
