I Saw that the commissioners are gonna meet about it
but WTH can they do? Cant make it illegal... cant control kids lives, if they wanna leave, they are gonna leave there is no way to stop them
i don't agree with it and i dont like IMG
ive talked to a number of D1 coaches about it and they all feel the same way makes recruiting convenient from a 1 stop shopping standpoint, they can go there and visit with a lot of kids
but it isnt HS football, they said no one goes to the games because all the kids are out of state
they say it doesnt benefit them to go there because the ones that are amazing, were gonna have every offer anyway, and the ones who think they will get more offers by going end up being a back up or part time player where as he wouldve been the best player in his whole area had he stayed at home
I agree that IMG is hurting other places, i just dont see how we can make a rule here in CA, that does anything to stop it

I'm not a fan of what IMG stands for but this situation is completely ignoring that there is TONS of undue influence in CIF. This is an absolute joke. CIF should be far more concerned about what happens in its own yard as opposed to a school across the country. It should even be more concerned about the private 7 on 7 teams. CIF has let the wild Wild West happen and the floodgates have completely opened. Every once in a while there will be some investigating of transfers but it doesn't happen. I do believe the men and women of CIF have very good intentions but the transfer/undue influence of middle school kids is out of control.

cant stand img and what it stands for. Florida is screwed up in how private schools are all in the public school league. private schools openly recruit kids. st thomas, bishop moore, jacksonville bolles, to name a few. but then they play the publics all season long and in the title games. its pretty unfair for any program really. but,,,, open enrollment starts july 1. which will be a complete chit storm. they already changed the rules on "following a coach". now a kid can go wherever his coach goes. nobody turns people in on this, as the rule now says "previous involvement". open enrollment, kids can go across 5,6,7 school zones to go play football, transfer back to play basketball, transfer again to play baseball....heck, they can go from county to county as well. how this is right, is beyond me.

Why is CA wasting their time on this? While I don't agree with the IMG philosophy, the only thing the CIF can do is not allow CA teams to play them.

Sounds pretty similar to California. However, the big time public schools in California may be bigger recruiters than the privates.

As an IMG response all I can picture is the judge from My Cousin Vinny...."That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out objection....Overruled!"

I found the article especially interesting because I'm familiar with a set of twins that Chaminade was chasing. I was told by a family member that they were promised full tuition, uniforms, breakfast & lunch and transportation to/from school. I agree that CIF should be focused on stuff happening here, there are more than enough violations to keep them busy for years.

Wonder why CIF cares? Would it be...because IMG is planning to build something in Norcal?

Wonder why CIF cares? Would it be...because IMG is planning to build something in Norcal? I hope not. If they expand that means things are going well for them and they're just going to keep adding more schools around the country. Imagine 10 IMG's around the country in calculated areas. They form a national conference and that's their 9 game schedule where every game is nationally televised.

RSR Academy is real. As long as the CA Lotto hits for me. Coaches get company cars and houses.
If I only played...the lotto.

You must not be in south florida because down here, the public schools are sometimes worse. It's actually easier for them to recruit because no money is involved. Only a few schools like St Thomas can bring kids in with no cost.

With the way the recruiting business and professional sports are going, IMG would be smart to expand into maybe another couple of schools in different parts of the USA to build their brand.
I despise them and everything they stand for. They may well be one of the worst things to happen to football in my lifetime, including the concussion hysteria, but they are what they are.
The NCAA needs to come down on IMG and treat kids who go there the same as kids who deal with agents before college, thereby ruining NCAA eligibility.
Barring that, there's just not that much the state federations could do. Florida could ban public schools from playing them. The CIF and even NFHS could ban member schools from playing them... but there are still enough independent associations out there for IMG to schedule games.
Even without games, IMG would still recruit athletes and "train them" without a season and market that to the big FBS schools.

I'm hardly pro-IMG but that's a tad over the top.
