With the construction of a field house and locker room comes something new to our small school: showers. We are a private school, so the showers are only for male football players.
In this day and age, what are some rules you have or would put into place to keep yourself and your school from getting in legal trouble should something go wrong?

Wait, you all have guys who actually would shower?
We have only had 1 person use our showers, and that's because he thought he could sneak in there and smoke pot.
But, I'd say the no phone rule would probably cover a majority of your bases. And, weirdly enough, 1 person per.

It's been so long here that the shower room has been converted to storage space.

I have also seen a rise in showering lately (which is a very odd thing for me to type let alone notice), I think it may be because we have curtains. I think you need to have something in your hazing policy that at least mentions the showers (so as to indicate that you are aware of situations that can arise). Also, without knowing the layout of your locker room and showers maybe address supervision procedures with your coaches.
I once took a job at a school where I was one of only two on campus coaches, and was shocked when practice ended and nobody went up to monitor the locker room area. I get we are giving them their space to grow and trust them (and nobody wants to hang out in a teenage locker room) but hazing still exists and could cost people their jobs; not to mention this school ahd a history of hazing. I would be cognizant of such things in regards to your showers.

WE haven't had a player shower since 1999. It has kind of died out around here and nobody in this day and age can force kids to shower.

no recording devices, I would make sure to have your school talk to their legal person, they can get the info you need, they still shower at my school, but it is usually after games, after practice most kids just get out of there

We have showers, some use them, others don't. In between two a days we encourage them to shower even if they want to wear a bathing suit. We don't force it. Just let them know they'll feel better on break being clean.
I don't think we post any special rules about it though. No recording policy is a must.

I said no showers at all because kids don't use them
We have them in locker room and kids rinse off with clothes on after swim unit in PE
That's it
My previous school had a few built in at field house in bathroom Never used once
Kids don't use them because HS kid logic is :
If you see my dick you're gay If you show your dick you're gay

I'd rather have used the space for something else. But, if the booster who got our weight room out of a double wide trailer (not joking!) and into a new field house wants some showers, then I'm all for it.

Keep your office door open and ear out for bullchit. I also harp on the players to get it and out of the shower: it shouldn't take them any longer than 5 minutes to get in and out. I wonder if they're taking longer than that because showering with a bunch of other dudes isn't exactly exactly comfortable. Also, be very, very wary if a kid is showering alone... I'll pop open the locker room door and stand in the doorway so that I can still hear the kid but people/cameras can see me.
In my one and only PE gig, I was the only PE teacher for both girls and boys so I banned showers after PE.

I graduated in 08 but back in high school our showers and bathroom stalls were all in the same room so nobody ever really wanted to spend more than 3 minutes in there tops. But we only had 4 rules when it came to showers. 1) No recording devices. 2) You must wear short sandals. 3) Provide your own soap. 4) You must wear shower shorts.
