Does anyone send parents a letter at the end of the season to let parents know info about the following year. I was going to do it in a meeting but because of how busy everyone, i thought it might be just as easy to send my outline and expectations/goals for next year via a letter...What do you think?

Try a quarterly newsletter (with an e-version distributed via email) Tri-Fold style where you can just staple / tape an end and mail it (.....) Give up-coming dates and stories of the program (3 paragraphs praising your trainer...or equip manager). How former players are doing (or playing). Staff profiles and off-season note-worthies THE DRIVING FORCE For the past two seasons, equipment manager Ted Lubner, has been the cog behind the football program's magnificent performances. Lubner inventories all equipment, manages the laundry, and helps game report stats. Ted enjoys horseback riding, raising chickens, and Worlds of Warcraft.
Off-Season weight sessions are turning out dramatic performances from many of our athletes. The following players have achieved new benchmarks in the weight room;
SUPER STUD BLUE CHIP LEVEL ....Pat Hawkins, Glen Jones
AWESOME SPECTACULAR NAZI LEVEL ...Jim Bob, Ned Gizzard, Cory Brown
Then make sure you include the WEIGHT ROOM ATTENDANCEs of the boys. Reward the 100% ers, and the <50% ("please contact these people") -----for example, PLAYERS MAKING 100% OF THE SESSIONS ....Johnny Blow, Steve Christmas, Bill Bratsky
PLAYERS NEEDING ASSISTANCE (<50% ATTENDANCE) .....Jack Slapdick, Robert Sleeslack, Tyronne Bingham

Brophy have you ever thought about being a writer?? you have a creative side to you..... scary if you really think about it, If you really put that mind to complete use for football you might be the next coach geoff!!

we did it the final year of one of our programs and it was really helpful. Because there would be 5 or 6 boys who were telling their folks they were spending all their time "working out", but then their parents get the notice that these kids are <50% of attendance......those kids got the "come to Jesus" object lesson from the parents and turned them around (a lot easier and a lot less messier than the coach hollerin' at the boys). Create YOUR OWN belief system in your program, because half the people are too stupid to understand what your program is really about (they'd rather just whine about what you're doing wrong)

I think that it is an excellent idea, especially if you are looking to build a competitive program, keeps everyone in the loop, and gives you something to refer back to as well if you put it together the way brophy has introduced it!

Thanks alot, just what I was looking for. Put me down for your first book but at wholesale. Not because it wouldn't be worth it , just on another lay-off.

Brophy, when are the newsletters sent out? I know quarterly=every 3 months, but which month and which part of the month do you send them?

Brophy, I really like the format of the parent letter. It keeps them informed about what is going on and allows them to feel a part of the team in some respects. It would help to get them on the bandwagon instead of the gossipwagon. Thanks,
