For you guys like me who are teachers and don't work "real jobs" as some of our non-teacher acquaintances here say, what do you do on a day like today? School hasn't started yet, and i have 4.5 hours to kill. I don't want to get into my own head overanalyzing film.

We've had several no-school game days in the past, for a variety of reasons. I "do me." I go to the beach, I go fishing, I go out to breakfast...all the things I love doing over the summer and have to stop once the fall rolls around. You have all season to beat yourself up. Take a few hours to escape.

In fact, our thursday walk-thru starts later than our other daily practices, so I have 2 1/2 hours before practice today. I have my suit and towel in my office, Im gonna spend an hour by myself frolicking at the beach today

Also I have one of those "real" jobs. Where we do have the tracking, but there are ways around things. Just have to get creative.

Get ahead on your grading (or is it too early in the school year for that). Hit the weight room, listen to music, read, enjoy your non football hobbies.

The worst part of those days is remembering to NOT crack open a beer

Treat it like a school day. Go to school and get work done in your classroom until school would normally be out.

We try not to get our kids out of their routine. We bring them in the morning for a breakfast & do a special teams walk through. We come back to the school and show a movie (I'll typically fall asleep for a couple of hours). By now it's about noon so we cut them loose for a couple hours. They come back for off-def walk throughs. Afterward, we have our pre-game meal & then it's time for taping, equipment etc. before early outs.
This might sound insane, but I was a part of a team once that didn't have school on a game day after Halloween night. Needless to say, kids made some bad choices. I think a day off of school throws them off so having them around is a good thing.

Did those things and then watched our freshman get beat down. We won though, so all is good.
